Third ruptured fuel line

Just confirmed I have had the third failed fuel line (inside the fuel pump). This is three failures in 8000 miles. I don't run any special fuel, I keep the tank over half full, only add BG 44K every 5000 miles. I do have a 5bar FPR. Any thoughts?

I am having it replaced with a specially ordered fuel line good to 100 psi.

Sounds unusual, have you measured pressure just to be sure there isn't some blockage downstream or a bad FPR?

Wow, sorry to hear Bill, haven't really heard of allot of failures. Is there another factor causing issues? I heard one of our trusted friends has your car so should be no question of labor.

Thanks guys for the input...earl, the fuel line pressure was tested (which is how they found the failed hose)...nothing obviously wrong. Chris, yeah Chance is on it....he is getting a special hose (high pressure) replacement. He told me the redesigned fuel pump no longer uses this hose....so perhaps Porsche knows something is wrong with the old design...

Do you have the part # for the redesigned pump? Did you go with the 044?

Larry, The tech replaced the ruptured hose with a high pressure hose instead of replacing the entire pump.

Wross, I don't know if it is too much to ask but is it possible to know what kind of hose he used, the size, type and may be where it can be found? I got a pump and would like to install an improve U hose instead of the original one. (My pump is the old type with the rubber hose not the plastic one...)

That will do it.
JP...basic "high pressure fuel line" will be fine. It just gets dry and the stuff in the tank is not the best.

You bet..here is a pic of the hose package. Chance made the hose longer so as not to be such an abrupt U-shape.

Same hose I used, Wross (important that its fuel submersible!) -I ended up using the entire foot length to make the bend nice and gradual.

The loop hose was probably recently modified by Porsche with a new pump part number. 99662010700 replaced by 99662010702 which, I guess, replace the rubber loop hose with a plastic one (see pic). But this site http://www.porscheturbokit.com/porsc...l-problems.asp does not mention 2005, but I have doubt that the 2005 were already modified.... I should mention that I purchase a pump assembly in 2009 and the U hose was in rubber.....
