2001 same car minus useless glovebox, crappy radio (any year radio is crap in my opinion) and may or may not have added extra stiffining after 2001, this could be argued/and this extra stiffining might be noticed on a track but then I doubt it. The 2001 being the first year will be worth more in the future but as I said before I wont live to see it.Any way you put it the 996tt is the best car for the money out there today. And the 2001 is the bargain/best buy.

In Excellence Magazine Porsches buying guide,it does state that in 2002 they did in fact,,if you want to believe it,there were a number of changes to improve the flexural and torsional strength by 25%?..They do list the areas in it.
Stand by what I said= and the car minus 25% torsional strenght is still more car than any one would ever need, this car will out perform 99.9% of the people behind the wheel. And yes I know no one gives a rats *** what I think lol.
I went with a 2002 model. I was willing to entertain the idea of getting a 2001, but as a general rule, it's best not to buy the first year model of a car, wait a year or two and then any bugs will be worked out.
My advice is to figure out which color exterior/interior you want, and how many miles you're ok with. Once you do that, you'll see that your choices get cut down dramatically. I looked for a year for my silver 02, I was only looking at silver, gray, and black cars, with a black interior. Found a lot of good cars with the right exterior color, but with an interior color I just couldn't live with. I hate the light gray interior, looks cheap to me. Black is much better. Tan would have been "ok" to me, but if you're buying a car and spending $40k or more, it doesn't make sense to get one that you don't like completely.
Good luck with your search!

I really want white or yellow, but when i do find one, its above my price limit, and its an auto BLAH!
Id like something unique, but it looks like its going to be silver. I never want another black car again. Looks great, but my god its impossible to keep nice. It seems milage is not a big concern with these motors, so Id say around 40-60k miles is ok. The hunt is on!
