45k to spend 2007 z06 or 996 tt

Apart from wanting a small backseat, what turns me off the most on vettes is the styling. I love it when it comes out but I'm bored with it a year later. I can look at a 40y old Porsche and still love it.
#32
Because it still looks the same as the new ones?
#33
True and the only way they are this way is because of the timeless design . Looks at the early 2000s vette; it looks waaay dated!

To whom?
I'm sure among enthusiasts, sure, we all know the cues to look for (also added to GS model, though betc...), but a 991 C4S, can be easily dismissed as a 997 GT2 or 996 C2 among most people.
I briefly worked with a person who thought a Boxster that we saw in a parking lot costs $250k.

First I want to mention I love corvettes. I have owned many.
I was in the same situation a few years ago. Out to buy my dream car.
It came down to a ZO6 or a used 996TT. This dream car was one I planed on keeping a long time so how the car aged was important. Then I took a serious look at both cars. When I looked at 10 year old vettes they looked dated. When I looked at the 996 it still looked like a current car. I ended up with the 996tt. Even at 11 years old now I have had some people think it was new.

Whether or not this is appealing, is a personal preference.
Let's switch this around, and see from another perspective:
When I looked at the current car, it still looked like a 996.
Just sayin'. Not trying to stir the pot too much, just offering a different perspective. It all boils down to personal preference.

Definitely personal preference but European cars age a lot better than domestic cars IMO. Just look at a 10y old Mustang, Vette, Camaro, etc. Especially that last one looks like a pile of crap!!
I had a few people ask me now if my '99 BMW is the new Z4 LOL

i think im gonna go for porsche but i hate the fack that when you check 996 whit techart kit and 19inch hre and you look at a normal stock 996 the difference is extreme man i mean those car change a lot whit wheel and body kit remmember me the 1995 supra
#42
stick with the 18's and search for the aerokit . it changes the way the car looks a bunch. 19's look great but ride like a brick! (btw i have them on mine but going back to 18)

+1. Just get a 996, put your own wheels on it, and add your favorite body kit...

Not a lot of mods, but some considerable money.
I say minimalistic approach to make it a true drivers race (with equal drivers) is a good tune on K24's. Rear sway and get some stiffer springs and setup advice from Mr White on stock suspension tuning. I have not really rung out a K16 Turbo on track but you just might be able to get away with that with a good tune/exhaust unless the track has really long straights.
But the tune with K24's is enough to make up the power deficit. Handling wise, a good set of coilovers with camber plates and pillow ***** included and a rear sway will do the trick.

yes money is a better word, set of Olins, control arms, sways ect. and your right there. All I know is my stock suspension 996TT with a UMW stage 2 feels great on the street, even canyons and on-ramps but on the track it feels like driving a beach ball with rockets attached
