Interested. I understand it isn't simple. Lots of stuff has to be removed before you get to the WP.

The repair manual is really good and the removal and installation of the water pump is perfectly explained...Start at page 529.

It is not that bad as long as you do not try to do it without dropping the motor. With the motor up you can get the pump off but it lacks a C hair of clearance to drop down.
Driver side....get under car and look up. It is right there. Do it from the bottom!

I did mine in June. It was easier than let's Say a B5 s4. I found it to be easy. Remove bumper lights lower the motor on the lift wals!

When the thermostat fails, you have 2 choices - either it locks open or locks closed. If it locks open, your car will take much longer to warm up, but will be drive-able to a point. If it locks closed, it will overheat as soon as it warms up and you'll have to park it until it's fixed.
