Found my so called boost leak problem....

So i just got the news today that what i was thinking and was being told was a boost leak was COMPLETELY wrong. My right turbo seized and is inoperable. they are the 2009 gt28 from Evoms. im being told that they are out dated and in need the new water cooled gt28s. Anybody else have these kind of issues, my car is a Sunday driver, i dont track it and im not too sure of my options, especially knowing that Every option has a $$ behind it.. What to do What to do ....... H E L P ..........Please

winetaster is infamous around these parts
sounds like an expensive repair.... if you don't track, I suggest go back with the stock turbos and try to DIY... you might just have fun doing it... good luck!

I'm having a pair of K24s refreshed on Monday. Let me know if they would be suitable replacements for you.

GT28 Turbo's

I have had the gt28 turbos from evo since 2007'. Never once did they fail me and my car only has one speed all out!! I do 150 to pick up milk at the grocery store. You can have them rebuilt from Tial for a very reasonable amount. Some people believe they are out dated and I'm sure there are newer versions but it's still a great turbo.

I have those turbos..

I bought my car with them, then replaced them with alpha 28s and then went back to the old gt28 hybrids.. I like the response more than with the alphas..

Gt28

I have driven many 996tt and 997tt cars with different turbos. Cars that had more hp and less. I can tell you for sure nothing spools quicker than the gt28 turbos. I have the gt700 kit with some extras goodies and the car is super reliable and runs fast. The tune is key!! Also make sure you always let the turbos cool before shutting down and use good oil. Mobil 1.

Come to think about it I had a car once with the full gt700 kit do the same thing.. It turned out to be the fire spike in the collector broke loose and stopped the turbo. No damage to the turbo once removed. What headers you have on the car??
