Clutch slipping

My clutch has started slipping pretty badly. It started this when I traded cars with a friend for the weekend last week because I needed a bigger car for three days while travelling out of town. Seems strange that the problem was so bad right when I got the car back. He, of course, claims it was perfect when he was driving it.

So, the question is whether to put a stock clutch in or something different. I drive moderately on the street, don't track and don't drag.

Befire I drop $2K on anew clutch install at Ruf Auto Centre (whohc has not inspetced the problem yet), I am wondering if anyone has any recommendations or perhaps has a good used clutch to sell.

Moral: Don't let friends drive Turbo.

Get a light weight flywheel if you are willing to go through the learning curve to use it. Otherwise use the OEM flywheel. Either way I would use the opportunity to upgrade the clutch to a more robust unit. I bough mine from Imagine Auto.

All he said was that he had a "hard time" finding first gear. I didn't ask for clarification because I did not know the clutch was slipping yet. For all I know a valet took the car for a joy ride while my buddy had it.

If you want to do this you need S Car Go Racing's Big Dog clutch. It will tame 1000 hp monster motor's.

My car is a daily driver. Are these after-market clutches easy enough to use for that?

No, the S Car Go clutch would not be what you want.

My recent experience ...
I put in a Sachs sport clutch and lightweight flywheel. I have had the car now for a little more than a week. My first reaction was on the lines of Holy S**t, I just made a big mistake. I had many embarrassing moments and dreaded coming up on a red light. BUT ... the more I drove it, the more I got used to it. I think that Stephen K replied to someone recently, who had just got his car back with this setup that "The first week you will have a love/hate relationship with your car/clutch." That may not be a direct quote, but it sums up my experience. I am not shooting the gaps in traffic with my left turns yet, but I am getting there. All in all, I like this setup more and more. I just finished a DE event where it all worked flawlessly. Long story short, your car will not be as easy to drive as it is with a stock clutch and dual mass flywheel, but you can get used to it and if you do, you will enjoy the benefits of the upgrade. The side benefit to this is that your friends won't be able to/ want to drive your car, so no more 3rd party wear and tear to worry about! Hope my story helps you a bit.
