Stiff Clutch + Fluid on-floor, is it safe to drive?

Just this morning I was getting in the car and the clutch was suddenly very stiff (before I started the car.)
I had the accumulator replaced a few weeks ago due a previously stiff clutch, and that had seemingly solved the problem.

Well, just like before, once the car started the clutch became much lighter. However this time, as I was reversing back from the garage, I noticed that I had left a puddle in the garage. I looked under the car and it was dripping quite heavily, slightly in front of the drivers side rear tire.

I'm guessing this is directly related to the clutch, but I'm not certain.

Either way, is the car safe to drive this way to a shop or do I need to call for a tow service?

(the picture doesn't show it, but it was really pouring from out of there... not a slow drip--seemed to come out when I pressed the clutch in.)

No, dont drive it. Clutch fluid is pentosin which is very flammable. Have her towed.

if its in front of driver side rear tire that is a busted slave cylinder on top of the trans or some lines running to it. def dont drive. for one pentosin is flamamble and once all fluid drips out you wont be able to use the clutch.

Thanks guys, I'll have it towed.

If the issue is with the slave cylinder, is there a chance that the new accumulator (installed a couple of weeks ago) could have been damaged in the process of the issues I'm seeing? I'm trying to figure out if that too should be replaced again, or if I can keep using the accumulator that was just installed.

Also, any thoughts on what are the changes that the recent accumulator installation may have contributed to the issue I'm now seeing?

Most advice is if you replace the accumulator, you should ALSO replace the slave. Or do away with it all and go GT2 accumulator delete.

My advice would be if slave fails go with GT2 clutch slave kit...

Simo,

Sorry to hear about the problem, as others have stated if the slave is the problem, I would go with the gt2 slave kit

I never recommend driving anything with a brake/clutch leak. It never turns out well.

If you do decide to go the GT2 slave route give me a shout.

If you aren't going to find the source yourself and fix it, get it towed. I just read the original post and replies and everyone is assuming it's Pentosin. Maybe yes, maybe no. To the OP, do you know what the fluid leaking is?

I don't know for a fact what the fluid is. The strong assumption here is that the very direct correlation between issues with the clutch pedal, and the fluid gushing out is an indicator of a clutch fluid related matter.

The fluid gushes out when the clutch pedal is pressed.

Accumulator may not have been tightened properly hence it took some time to loosen and ultimately leak. Check out the 4 pages of write up below, some good info. You can easily check it yourself if it is tight or not, I'd do that first. Best of luck.

Good point. I wish I had thought of that a bit earlier. The car has already been towed to a shop, so I'm no longer looking at it. Hope to learn more tomorrow from the shop, and then depending on the situation either just retighten the accumulator, and/or replace with GT2 hardware...

We have a complete GT2 conversion kit, including the proper fluid available....IMO, it's the best way to go and makes driving the car more enjoyable. PM or email for 6speed pricing.
