We are getting a few people together trying to do a Stroker Kit, you might want to check it out as well. I realize there is quite a bit more cost involved but other than a light weight pulley which I don't think would help that much or a smaller diameter, lighter torque converter which means you will have to take the trans out of the car, which would cost around $1200 and up from what I have been quoted and paid for my clutch job, the lighter weight rotating mass, engine internals could be an alternative. The added displacement, torque and power will help that puppy sloop up better too, both in Turbo boost\response and RPMs!! The car would make more toque\hp off boost and help spool up your turbos faster, and make more torque\hp the rest of the RPM band as well; not to mention the benefit of having a built motor where you can make a ton more power without worrying about stretching your rod bolts

Does come with a large price tag though. If you are interested let me know and we can chat a bit to see if we can figure out a specific combination, bore\stroke for you where the weight savings will be optimized to help you with your situation.

I will ask around about the torque converter to see if anyone has something for you.
LOL..Yes that would be a sensible fix for that ...LOL..

With bone stock 0-60 times only a couple tenths different manual vs tip, I'm really wondering if the "rev more freely" argument being posed is all a bit subjective. In the everyday world of daily street driving, not sure it's discernible. Modded cars, make sure you're comparing apples to apples. If you're going to compare equally modded tips with modded 6 spds, again, not sure you can tell. Sharkwerks and EVOMS, to name a couple, have some VERY fast tips to their credit. Just sayin....

Cheers

speed and power have nothing to do with revving freely... unless you are just talking about how fast the rpms go up while in gear, to which I would tell you to get shorter gears.

For 99/100 people it means flywheel mass. going lighter means you can rev match much easier, something your average tip owner shouldn't need help with.

My feeling is the car sounds soggy and that is making the op think the car is not reving freely

without reinventing the wheel, free up your intake and exhaust and you'll have the best you can get... if not, logg onto autotrader and look at 997tt. there in the low 60's now... hmmmm?

Not where to OP is from... I think he even has to pay a 100% import tax on a car so your 70k 997t is 140k

997 TT's are cheap here but so are 997 GT3 RS Mk1's so that is what I will buy to complement the 996 TT & the Ferrari's. I need a 4X4 in winter as my daily driver & that is the TT, it just needs to be more alive

I think it looks lazy to get on power. Anyone with a tip have a dyno to compare?

mmmmm is infamous around these parts
Are you talking about revving quickly in gear or in neutral?

In Gear = More power, shorter rear end, etc.
In N = Your other cars.

Reading this thread I can't help but think your throttle by wire, electronic accelerator may have something to do with what you are feeling. The throttle response in my '04 Turbo at times seems to have a bit of a lag and is not perfectly synchronized with my right foot action, it seems to hang at times as well. This was never apparent in my '99 C2 I had for 7 years or the '99 Boxster Tip I still own and have for over a decade.

This was also a problem for me when I had my car. I drove some other flashed/modded cars and they all had a "wet noodle throttle". We worked on this with my car at EPL for a while and my throttle response was beautiful. Many commented on it. Really helped the car to "feel" faster too.

Good point there are a couple of firms which improve throttle by wire tuning by putting a module inbetween the throttle and adapter
