Quick question - the stalk that controls my OBC is wiggly, like a spring or something might be missing. It's a bit loose but works fine for all functions and is not making any rattle noises. My question is if you guys know if there is a helper spring on the back side or not, or if you might know what might have broken/dislodged to make the stalk loose.

Also - how easy is it to replace with an entirely new assembly? I can buy the whole thing for around $200 if it's a simple swap.

Same issue with mine. Functions fine, but is quite loose. Seems to have recently happened...

 

I had the same exact issue. I figured something broke inside, even though the stalk still worked. I bought the whole turn indicator/computer stalk assembly and replaced it myself. There is a good DIY video on youtube of the whole process. It turns out that nothing was broken, but there are two screws that secure the computer stalk to the assembly and they were both loose causing the wobble. I ended up replacing the whole assembly anyways since I was in there. You could follow the DIY and instead of replacing the assembly, just tighten the screws.

Btw - I have an 04 - if I disconnect the battery, will I need a code for the radio when I reconnect everything?

 

Yes, you will need your radio code. Another point, you don't have to have the ignition turned on like in the video. I didn't have to in my '01. There were no issues with airbag lights or anything like that.

 

This solved a long time problem for me. The dash computer stalk has been loose ever since I got the car in 2008. I finally fixed it and can't believe it took so long. Thanks for posting this!

 

Thank you all! I was 10 seconds from ordering a new 4 stalk assembly and stumbled upon this thread. Sure as sh*t, I opened her up and both screws had come completely out. 2 new screws (with a little Loctite) and we're back in business. Easy Peasy. Now to figure out why my alarm seems to beep whenever it wants...
