Poor man's Porsche tt

Okay,

I know there may be some of you on this list that cannot afford a 996 tt. If that is the case I have a solution for you. My new 2004 Subaru WRX STi is like a mini Porsche tt. Stock it is as fast as a standard 996 and Corvette in 0 to 60 and 1/4 mile time. It handles like a go cart, comes with Brembo brakes, BBS wheels, super sticky tires, adjustable front to rear torque distribution, sport seats, etc... All for $30,000.00.

Now I would not give up my tt for it but for those on a budget I am very impressed with this car. And for those of you with tt's that you have to put up for the winter this is an excellent choice for a winter vehicle. I just love it!!

ps: I never thought in a million years I would own a SUBARU!!!

Hey Buddy...What kind of snow's you putting on that little tyke???
I can't imagine you will make it through a Michigan winter with the stock tires...or will you??? You could practice some pretty wild drifting techniques... heh heh

I don't think you can delete the wing but I know some guys have switched it out to the more understated standard WRX wing.

And yes I will be putting 4 snow tires on probably the Dunlop Winter Sport 03.

Obviously there is a big debate over which car is better the EVO or the STi. I personally like the Scooby better. The Mitsu has a cheaper looking interior and is based on the Lancer. The Scooby is based on the WRX which is already a much better platform to begin with. The Scooby feels very solid and reliable.

Just my opinion. And of course there are tons of mods to be made to make the Scooby handle better and go faster!

Congrats, Buddy -- I know you'll love driving it. Now, you'll have to add these for the ROW/Japan handling and look.....

My brother right now is debating between Evo 8 and STi. He has test driven the Evo and said it was amazing. Before he buys, I'm going to go out and test drive both and give him some thoughts. Both cars are beautiful though and their performance is very good.

It's called Scooby because Scooby Doo sounds like Subaru

Like Buddy and Jack I can't say enough good things about the STI. It is the funnest car I have ever owned. I did not even consider the Evo.The Evo is cheaper looking inside and out and 30 hp less. It's much more than a winter car for me. I swapped the trunk lids and am now wingless. It's a much better look.

How often do you drive it? Do you ever feel weird when you see young kids in the same thing?

WRX

I have a 2002 WRX wagon and it is a great winter car. It has a little lag so when my lease is up I will get an STI as my winter car.
i already put OZ wheels on it front and rear sway bars and strut tower brace which really firmed up the handling. It is amazing how cheap the parts are for subis.
