Q regarding GT2 front clip for Turbo

What is required to convert the Turbo front clip to GT2?

Does the GT2 front clip (part#: 996.505.31103) bolt directly in place of the Turbo nose with existing hardware, or are there series of sub-structures and/or brackets that need to be additionally acquired?

I was just curious if it'd be as simple as buying a GT2 front clip from someone who is upgrading and dropping it off at the bodyshop, or will I be stuck hunting down little bits that'd make it not worthwhile.

Thanks,
Stephen

GT2

I believe you are referring to the GT2 front bumper. No, it will not just bolt up, the ducting and radiator placing will require quite a lot of work.

This is a list of parts that had to be changed on my GT-2 bumper conversion!

There is also (2) spacers missing from this list

Its also a good time to change the yellow side marker lights, to the Euro spec frosted grey ones...the bumber is off anyways!

Something to consider...the GT-2 lower section of the bumper sits about 35-40mm lower than the stock turbo, something to keep in mind if you plan on also lowering the car to GT-2 specs!

I ended up having Pfaff, raise the front 7mm, and rear 10mm, above the GT-2 stock height, this made it a little easyer to negotiate around the streets of Toronto...

996 504 195 30 console upper
996 504 679 31 spacer sleeve
996 504 413 30 console lower
996 575 141 30 center air duct
996 505 563 01c air inlet
996 505 564 01c air inlet
996 505 561 01c air inlet

996 106 538 72 hose GT2 center radiator hose
996 106 439 72 hose GT2 center radiator hose

Hope it helps!!

Thanks for the info, guys.

Judging from the list, it's appears to be mostly understructure pieces, and not parts pertinent to the actually operation of the car other than the two hoses. I assume all the radiators, etc, stay the same, with the exception to the re-routing of the two new hoses.

How much were the aforementioned parts... a couple hundred, closer to a thousand, etc.?

Initially, I was looking for a stock Turbo chin spoiler (~$350 shipped). Upon doing some searches, I found used oem GT2 front clips starting at $200. So, that's why I was inquiring.

Its really only the lower section of the bumper that sits so low, everything behind it sits just fine.

I believe these parts will run you between $750.00- $1500.00 u.s, i cost me around $2000.00 Canadian for all the parts.

The left and right air box inlets are the pricest part of the conversion, at around $200-400 U.s each!

Then there is always paint!!!

I think everyone misunderstood the post - I myself am a bit confused now!!
I htink what Stephen wants to do is put a GT2 chin spoiler on a regular TT front...

For clarification, front clip refers to everything in front of the windshield.

You mean front bumper, I assume

Yes, the GT2 front bumper. I didn't think front clip included the hood and front quarter panels.
