Need recommendations re replacement seats

I would like to find some replacement seats for my 2001 TT. I find the factory seats (supple leather?) not very comfortable for my frame size (6'3, 215lbs).

Any thoughts on good replacements? I would like to retain leather if possible (perforated would be very nice) and want reclining seats. Any thoughts on Momo, Sparco, Cobra etc.?

Thanks in advance.

Don't go with the Sparco Milanos. They look good and feel good (I need seats that allow access to the rear seats), but they are too wide and were a pain in the *** to make fit. It wasn't worth the effort. Although they are in now, they don't slide back all the way and we are trying to figure out a way to raise them up to clear the sides to allow them to do so.

Bandit,

DO they sit lower than factory seats? Did they come with sliders?

I sat in the Factory sport seats and If I remember correctly, I liked them better than the regular seats. What do they go for?

I had ruffled standard seats on my '03 and I hated them. The sports seats in the turbo S is a much better seat, to me at least.

Khalid,

Thanks for the insight.. I am wondering if there are aftermarket seats that are really good and less expensive than replacement sport seats. The used ones seem to sell for $2-3K.

If Momo or Sparco makes a good seat for quite a bit less, I would prefer to go that route and keep the factory seats for if/when I sell the car.

Thanks.

here is a pic of Techart sport seat. the price tag is crazy. i'm sure it's a re-wrap of some sort. not sure about Sparco but i've tried Cobra & it was very hard for ur back. i doubt u can find anything cheaper than a set of slightly used OE spot seats.

That is a sweet seat! But I am sure it costs a bunch more too... I may check around at some local speed shops and see if they carry the Sparco or Momo line and just sit in the seat to get a feel for it..

I would love to get a set of these. Sport seats WITH full electronics. I bet they cost a ton.

yes, they sit lower, but that is the problem. The seats are so much wider that the controls for the seat back don't fit. I had to remove the control on the tunnel side of the car to make them fit, and it scratches the side of the center console (although you can't see it because it is so low) and they still don't slide back far enough. If the seats could be raised higher, they might fit better, but then they would sit higher than the stock seat if you did that. In effect, the seats would fit great if you had a really long torso, but really short legs! My shop is still working on a way to make them fit. It is a shame, because they are so much more comfortable and hold you more secure than the stock seats and aren't as restrictive as the GT3 seats.
