Is trying to obtain a Porsche 996 Turbo a shallow goal?
My daughter would drive me crazy asking for a monkey when she was a little girl, finally put it in her hands and said "call the pet stores if you can find one we'll buy it" She spent days trying
I'd love to be able to train a monkey to fetch me tools when I am under the car. I try to get my girlfriend to do it but generally it is quicker for me to slide out and get it myself then to explain which of the six tool boxes, then which drawer, then what the tool looks like from under the car.
If you spank your monkey too much it will just make a mess.
I can't believe this thread is still alive...As most everyone has said, buy another affordable car for now, until you get situated...
I sold my P-car to build my dream garage...miss my Porsche, but wouldn't trade my garage to get it back...I wanted to build the garage with cash, not credit...Tinkering with the RS6...I'll buy another car soon...

Lucky guy. My *wife* keeps on asking me for a monkey ever since she saw one in India....
this will be the last opinion from me on this subject . (not that anyone cares!) i have built cars bikes and more since i was a kid. hot rods, race cars, harleys, dirt bikes and every day drivers.
this car is without a doubt the most difficult car i have ever worked. i have a huge tool box full of decades of collecting tools, and a 2 post lift in my garage. and im still cussing when i bend a wrench. its not for the uninformed or the timid.
start small with an education, make your way in life and when you have money and success buy what you want.
a quote from dave ramsey " live like no one else so you can LIVE LIKE NO ONE ELSE!" this country lives on credit and its killing the country from the inside out. pay cash and live within your financial means. when your older you will be in a place that most only dream of. debt free and wealthy

Agreed too. Bought my first house and 5 acres when I was 28. I still live in it. Just redid the kitchen and about everything. Drove pos's till almost 40. First car over 1000$ was a xr4ti was when I was 37 ($3200). Still have it. It's in very good shape. My first turbo. Wait till later in life before you drop any serious money on a car. 50 is the new 30. You can have as much fun when when you are " older and can more afford " these type of cars. I can still beat my son in law (28 old) on a rock climbing wall and I am picking up my 7th p car this week.
i don't think many ( least of all the starry eyed, yet, seemingly laser focused dreamer who has okeydoked many of us here, of late ) here realize that in the very near future, buying sports cars will fall under the purview of the very rich. which few of us here in the *relatively* cheap seats are. i.e. driving sports cars out of high school is no longer within the realm of possible ( let alone expected/normal ) for everyday *kids* as it was when i came of age in the US back when we had *hi test gas* LOL. back then, a drivers license was in many ways a rite of passage. now it's just "id".
i put the chances of the op ever making into a car like this at fair to middlin', at best. it wont be his fault he didn't make it, either. "it's the economy stupid", "though the failure was intelligently designed". that's a deal killer right there. all else from him ( while one should never disparage a dream/desire or hope .. ) ..is strokes of a keybored.. err, board. .. sorry

"I think a 996 Turbo is a good buy, and have decided to forget about getting a Lamborghini, period." 4/7/13 @ 1:15 AM eastern
After making the above post, he went back to 6speedonline almost immediately and stated that he's decided against the gallardo. Although, not due to feedback in that thread.
He's just stringing different forums along with the same questions. It's not that they're bad questions, because they're not - but the premise for the questions has become a bit redundant and increasingly irrelevant

At a Zoo in Indonesia there was a monkey exhibit. This money exhibit had a banana vending machine that sold several little Banana's for approximately 25 cents. Well considering the cost of a pound (about 30) of those small little banana's was less then a dollar I think someone knew what they were doing when putting in that machine. Many a sucker put a quarter into that banana machine and the monkey cage was littered with many a banana.
What is the moral of the story.... Why are you guys wasting you time and money feeding this monkey banana's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!
Really I am all for being patient with kids, just not monkeys.

Not sure what you are implying here. If obtaining something like a P-car will be much harder to do in a few years, as opposed to now-- whether it's due to the car market and/or the economy, I still want a Porsche and if I can't get a TT, I will likely get a 2005 C6 Corvette (which i have seen for 18 grand) or a Carrera 2 series 911 from 2000.
