Worth new map for 93 octane?
Worth new map for 93 octane?
I recently purchased a Turbo from California with a Sharkerks tune and AWE exhaust. Being in Houston 93 octane is readily available. Is a new map worth it?
tough call, how much is the re-map for 93?
either way definitely use 93 octane since you can get it (jealous!). Going from 91 to 93 octane the ECU should adapt to the 93 octane and advance the timing for more power regardless of the map.
Talk to Sharkwerks and get the details of what in particular you can expect with the 93 map vs just running 93 octane + 91 map, and of course the cost

Not to tread-jack - but I picked up an '02 non-x50 with a tune, not sure if it's 93 or 91. I'm in Denver and can only get 91. As far as I've found, there isn't really anyway to determine what tune I have, so I'm not sure if it's dangerous to run it hard on 91.
After modding my vete and also hemi's... to me data log is the key to make sure everything is fine...I seen many times a 91 octane tune still produces knock running 94 octane...the ECU can compensate if it see knock by pulling timing but I rather not have the ECU do the work in protecting my engine.
Sharkwerks states that the 91 octane tune will adjust to the 93 octane fuel. He also mentioned that I should see anywhere from .8 to 1.0 bar - weather dependant. However, I only see .8 bar.

Sorry to say but to me, that sounds kinda lame and with only getting that much boost?
