akimoto168 is infamous around these parts
Also, I been looking at part diagrams and still can't figure out what that O-ring seal is apart of. What part is this?

Noticed a small puddle of oil under my car a couple of days ago. First time I've ever had a leak with this car. After looking under the car I found what looks like a similar leak location to you guys. Any of you guys figure out what was leaking on your car? I haven't had a chance to do any investigation yet but figured I'd see if anybody has any good ideas. I'll follow some of the leads above but I'm pretty sure its not Pentosin. The fluid on the ground in my garage I'm pretty sure is motor oil and not Pentosin or coolant. That is what I gathered from the appearance (golden brown), smell, and touch unless Pentosin changes color when exposed since I know its green. Here are some pics

My leak isn't as bad, but seems to be the same thing. I haven't figured out where the source is Any luck?

You may want to try some oil leak detection dye. Just put it in your oil and check with a UV light. If no indication of an oil leak look at the PS as others have mentioned.

You will notice that most of the different oils in your car have really different and unique smells. Gear, motor or P-steering fluid. That is another good tool to be able to tell what type of fluid.

I been looking more into this leak, and found this hose weeping a little. What is this? (See picture, clear, small hose)

I also see fluid on hose 996.106.512.72...looks like a "water hose". Any suggestions as to what it can be? The fluid is either dirty Pentosin or oil. Hard to tell because it dirty. So stumped!

The small hose you are pointing is a sense line (no fluid in it) and it is connected to the change over valve which is used in the operation of the diverter valves.

Hmmm not sure why there is fluid on there. I can see it attached to the DVs but not sure why it is wet???

There 's not too many component over this valve that can leak any kind of fluid over the change over valve. You should clean it with a contact cleaner or any cleaner that dry completely without leaving any oil deposit and drive the car for a while and do another leak check later....Can it be a small oil splash while refilling the oil reservoir?

Had a small oil leak (nowhere near as bad as yours) on mine and found it was the front main seal. I borrowed one of these http://www.harborfreight.com/Digital...Nzc0NyJ9%0D%0A

from a buddy and was able to figure it out quite easily. Without the camera I would have never found the problem as the oil saw getting slung making me think the issue was elsewhere. There are holes in the main pulley I was able to look through. Just replaced the seal and bolt.

Got the car up this weekend so I could get under it and take a look at the leak. The leak I have I am pretty sure is not Pentosin doing a side by side smell test of the leak and smelling the dipstick on the power steering reservoir. It smells just like motor oil. From what I can tell it does not look like it is coming from above. The aforementioned oil lines from the turbos are dry. The most oil is gathered around the rear part of the passenger side exhaust header and at the area where the valve cover meets the head mostly on the rear portion. Either of these prone to leak on these cars? I've had valve cover gaskets leak on other cars (most recently on my Mitsubishi Eclipse). They are easy to replace on a front engine car with the heads sitting right up looking at you under the hood. If that is the source, it does not appear easy to replace on this car. I've since cleaned all the oil off and will go for a drive and see where the leak presents itself.

That sounds like it might be a good idea. Never tried that before. Anything harmful about this dye that should make me think twice before putting this in my oil?

That is a nifty little tool. I may have to get one of those as this diagnosis has been troubling due to the tight spaces and oil splattered around underneath. Was your leak presenting itself similar to mine?

Curious if you ever resolved this oil leak as I am having same issue on the driver side I even had my engine R/R and my mechanic still couldn't find the source of the leak.

He took your engine and still couldn't find it? That sounds wrong. He should have able to locate the source if he had access to every nook and cranny.

Unfortunately in my situation I had a transmission rebuilt for 2nd gear pop out last 6/14 and 3000 miles later 3/15 it started popping out again I just happened to notice an oil leak. So I made the call to have transmission shipped back for warranty work and also have the engine out to find find leak (kill two birds with one stone). He couldn't find source of leak took everything off top of motor except oil cooler. It was one of those issues take the engine down to it's long block but my mechanic recommended cleaning oil on top of engine up, he thought maybe spillage from a past oil change. I went to the shop with another mechanic we used a bore scope and flashlights and still couldn't find source either very very frustrating. Either way after I got my car back last month 400 miles later it started leaking like in this post again
