oil leak, what is it?

Hey everyone, just got my car out of storage, took it out from one garage to bring it to the other to change the oil and just saw that leak. It is the first time i get an oil leak with this car.

Anyone has a clue where it could be coming from? It looks like the PS pump but can't tell because everything is so stuffed in there. PS fluid level is good though, I beleive it just started doing it but i never saw any oil on the floor before.

Anyone had a leak from this area before?

I see it it a little wet there but can't tell if that's it for sure

hard to see but behind the PS pulley, oil on the block

thanks for any help

'exact' same area as a leak I had last year. Mine was on the right side bellow. (That's the name for that rubber cover between the coolant lines) Mine was slightly swelled - leading me to believe it was the Pentosin / power steering fluid -that stuff swells rubber over time. Yours looks a bit darker - might just be the picture.
I had a few drops after parking, only when the car was hot. Short trip = nothing. Nothing like a steady flow.

I had one shop spend a few days with it - could not find the source. He sprayed some white powder around the power steering line connections - they all remained dry.
Next shop found the root cause.
Turns out that my power steering pump was leaking - was hard to see.
Previous owner had the GT2 clutch slave accumulator mod done. You have to ope the top half of the power steering pump to remove a coupler. The shop (maybe didn't know what they were doing) actually broke the factory seal (which is not what you do for this mod) - then tried to put everything back together. Once you break the factory seal - nothing will make it better. I ended up replacing my power steering pump - $1,500 later = problem solved. Not saying that will be your issue.

Determine the fluid first - oil or power steering fluid.
Has any work been done around the power steering pump area before?

nothing has been done on the power steering for the last 5 years i owned it. just got it out of storage and it started leaking. It really looks like oil, may be pentosin but i doubt it. I guess i will need to start taking stuff out.

Did you splash a bit of oil while refilling the oil tank and it stay for a while on top of the block and finally reach his way down....????

that's what i thought at first but the last oil change date back from mid summer.

Plus, the leak seems to be a little bit more towards the center of the car than where the refill tube is.

+1 on power steering pump guess, same issue here. Was a good excuse switch to the gt2 pump and get rid of the assist.

Alex I think you should remove some more parts to do a proper evaluation. On the aft end of the block you got the water pump housing with the right end of it (center of the block) being the turbos oil pumps. There you got a o-ring that can leak and you got also two oil lines, one for return to crankcase and one for suction from the turbo oil tank coming from turbo right side. But your leak seems to come from higher tan that. That is why I was thinking of overspilling....

I have the o-ring weep. But the OP's is a pretty big leak, and it looks like it's above the o-ring and a little to the right. In the second pic you can see the turbo oil line and it appears dry at the source.

I agree he needs to move some stuff and get to the source if he can't see it with everything in place. Unfortunately it may require cleaning everything and putting it back together to let it leak some more and repeating the process.

I have that same leak right now. Seems to be coming from that seal where the oil is collecting. I can't locate the source so I think the seal is the source. Can that be replaced? What is this pipe called?

power steering pump is my guess. But as stated above figure out if its chs11 or oil. there is a oil galley on top of the chain housing that feeds oil to the cam tower.

That pipe on the bottom where the oil is collecting is part of the power steering? Seems to be a hard line for soemthing else.

that pipe is coolant it has nothing to do with oil, oil is not leaking from that rubber thing.

Hmmm. Ok, so the oil is just collecting at the o ring? How do I tell if it is Pentosin or oil?

Are you able to dab the stain/dripping with a clean white napkin, so we can view the color?

Here is a pic of the "oil". Seems to look like motor oil.
