Question for those who installed 997.2 intercoolers

I tried following Earl's instructions but it doesn't work, the intercooler sits about 1/2" higher on the frame than the OEM intercooler. The top duct then become too tall and it won't fit without major prying and what this does is it creates a gap between the top portion of the duct and the duct on the car. The duct would need to be smaller or the intercooler would need to move down about 1/2 ". Here is a pic to show the height difference if they were both installed on the frame. Anyone can tell me what i do wrong?

oh yeah and were you guys able to put back the washer and C clip on the intercooler holder, the 997.2 "thumbs" are thicker and seem like i can't push the bushing all the way to the bottom.

thanks

I installed the 997.2ICs according to Earls instructions and everything was a perfect fit. The only thing different I did was extend the factory metal IC duct clips instead of using plastic zip ties. You can see in the pic below that everything seals up nicely.

did you take a picture of which tab was used to hold the intercooler on the frame?

Also, did you check the seal at the top part, not at the intercooler itself?

I have to say my install was pretty simple also.

Your questions are a little confusing, but I did not use 1 of the 3 C clips.

This is the only picture I have. It's been over a year ago since I installed these and don't recall the details other than the fact that everything sealed up nicely including the top of the upper duct to the body of the car. I believe one of the IC tabs that hooks into the IC is not used with the 997.2s. Other than that it's pretty straight forward.

just wanted to upgrade my thread, i was able to install them, still had a little gap at the top of the duct but i installed new weather stripping and it should work. I did a couple of things different from the DIY of earl3 but the biggest was the aliminum plate which i didn't use. Instead i went and bought a very big weatherstripping, it goes up to an inch so it fills the gap plenty enough. Here are a couple of pictures.
