997 itch
That's a personal decision. Many folk here would like a 997 but most don't think the price difference is worth it. There are lots of cosmetic differences, not so many sports car differences, especially the 997.1
agree. my cars faster than a stock 997t.. hut mezger engine 997.1 would be the one i'd want to stay with. was 997.2 the last mezger? can;'t recall
But its sooo hard to justify the huge price difference for pretty much interior upgrades.
i hear you. it's killing me too. i keep trying to think of ways of upgrading my old bit*h.. but it's still gonna be 10 years... old.
fast as hell though. i'd have to get a modded 997.1 and if i did, i'd want a cpo warranty for the 1st 2 years of owning it so the normal stuff can break on THEIR dime.. which ya can't have it the warranty is going to be honored. a real dilemma. only thing i know for sure.. no STOCK porsche turbo's!
white!! me too. ( argghh )

I have thought about it many times myself. If your going to leave the car as is and not mod it very much I think it is worth it.
If you are considering building the car then I do not think its worth it. I am addicted to modding cars, that $20-$30K dump into the 997tt platform would only be the beginning of it. Then it would be a given that I would get wheels, exhaust, coilovers and a tune....Thats almost another $13K! lol... for what? new headlights?
I love the fact that I have no payments to make every month and when I have some spare cash I can mod and play or just drive it as is which is plenty more then a stock 997tt.

Funny to hear everyone vocalizing my thoughts...fact is: for the same money, you can buy a stock 997 or a nicely modded, (possibly with a built motor) 996 TURBO. Tough choice...when in doubt...do nothing...

You know.... I don't see the 997 platform as a big enough departure from our cars to justify the expense. It wasn't until I bought my wife our new Cayenne S that I felt my interior was dated. So, I took a test drive in a new 991 S. Fantastic car and the interior update is a huge departure from the 996/997. It certainly dates our cars. I guess my point is that I don't see the upgrade on the 997 significant enough to warrant the additional expense. But when the 991TT comes out... I think it will be game on for two reasons: 1) I could see myself building one and 2) values of the 997.1TT will close on the 996TT enough to make the jump more palatable.
Personally speaking; I'd just stick with the car you have. It may not be as fancy or whatever compared to the 997, but it's STILL a Porsche. Don't forget that.
Go for a drive, roll the windows down, few WOT pulls; you'll recant your thoughts and enjoy your car again.
Chris.
