Picked one up with 28k miles and was wondering if this car is old news?

Feels slow and want to make it faster, but first things first is the Clutch! Slips already at higher rpms.

Going to do turbos, and tune and see what it outputs.

Anyone else here have a history with modded gt2's?

These cars may be old but they are still pretty quick?! I guess it depends what you compare it to?

Go to alpha 28s, and supporting mods. Thats what I'm doing next, and I have a gt2 aswell!

Strange that you say the clutch slips. I have a tune on my regular k24s, and I don't get any clutch slipping at all...

 

yes, its old news, get rid of it immediately lol...its a 13 year old car, its not state of the art and isnt the fastest car on the road by any stretch, add a few mods and it will be a beast though

maybe the previous owner sucked at driving stick, if you are doing turbos and a tune i would def plan on a new clutch

My 03 GT2 may not be the latest but still a lot of fun. YEs it is getting older but so am I
Purchased the car in o6 with 600 miles on it. Now has 16,000+ and never saw the street again after the first 2,000 miles. Have had a lot of great rack time with POC and PCA and a few miles at El Toro fields in Irvine, Calif. The best AX courses in the country.

So....Yes a few suspension mods, exhaust, GIAC tune, STR Stop Tech Brakes etc.. Have never had a DNF with this car........Till two weeks ago at PCA's Speed Festival at Auto Club Speedway. 3rd lap first prictice session and the cooling hosek comes unglued.

So GMG is doin the fix to the motor and of course you get into the "While its out New Tial 3076 Turbo's ordered, New 3.5" exhaust with center exit,k the usual maintenance items.......and of course it will get a new GIAC tune.

I adn't been on 6 speed for a few years so it has been great the last week reading all the great info on currect tuning and combinations

I"m sure in the next 3 weeks I'll have some questions o nmy options for the NEW GT2 But for now it is good to be back with a bunch of gear heads .

Sounds like something major is broken on the car and yes, they are old news. The best thing to do is give it to me. I'm a little sentimental and I don't mind old broken things.
Just let me know and I'll have that junker towed away for you.

 

gt2's are just unmodded 996 turbo's unbadged for the cool factor. i agree that maybe you should give it away as it's beneath you after all, you're in mission viejo! and as slow as it is? it's still might be a bit too much for the skate park sorry, what year is it again?

its a 2002 and i mean the car is quick and dynoed 440hp on a dynojet. Needs moar power!!!

 

i found the way to make my car faster, is to drive it in smaller places. 450-475 to wheels is enough for me. so,, try and lose some weight.. just strip it! and take those gt2 badges off the bose cabinet.

 

700hp, good alignment and suspension set-up on that car and you will change your view!
