Small Turbos Big Results
thats how its done! randy you better start thinking halon system, rollbar and harnesses for the more serious runs. its safety time with the power your running
If I go the whole big weight loss route I really want to do the carbon roof/sunroof delete. On Getty (I think) the 997 carbon roof description states that you need to have a roll cage if you do it. The 996 description does not. Do you know if the 996 requires a roll cage if you go to a carbon roof?
I just posted a 5.35 60-130 mph with a alpha 28 car. Last December we
posted a 5.87 second 60-130 on a K16G setup!
Both setups were a product of 911 Tuning, aka Markski. The 2001 996TT
was put on a strict diet and was 340 lbs off stock, but still retains a
full interior with a/c, carpet and kick *** stereo with bluetooth etc...
The smaller turbo setup doesn't relegate your car to a straight line
drag strip bruiser. Mine is a daily driver and it'll eat 99.999% of all
cars on the planet including most 3076 setups. I know that statement
will ruffle some feathers, but it's true.
I'm posting this thread to show Markski my appreciation and to show
folks in general, bigger is not always better. The real irony is that Porsche
was known as the giant killer in racing lore! Porsche racked up more Lemans
victories then Ford and Ferrari combined and they did it with half the
displacement of their competitors.
I must use full disclosure in that my 16g and alpha 28 setup are not
standard "packaged" product. I spent a LOT of money to get this
performance. Peeling off a couple hundred pounds is not very hard
and knowing which mods really work and offer the best bang for the buck
is a matter of doing some research and asking a few of the guys who
really know. I'm down 340 lbs and don't have a "stripped" car and that
is expensive! I also have several exterior components and suspension
parts that aren't necessarily mandatory. These cars have no trouble going
fast without them lol.
I wanna thank IPD for the 74mm plenum/throttle body. My absolute
best time before the IPD units was 5.46 seconds 60-130. I did 3 runs
after the plenum / throttle body and they were 5.52,5.7 and the record
5.35. The IPD plenum / tb works period the end.
Thank you Markski and Marcin. You guys are the best and I'll never
tell another Pollack joke again. ( not publicly anyways)

I'd love to know the details of your previous K16 based package.
Congrats on the A28 runs!
Thanks, it went OK...only trapped 134, but had a lot of room to grow. It was pretty much out of fuel, pump wise, and again, wouldn't make any more boost. The only thing that was obvious for the weight loss was the missing back seats...useless anyway...
I think with the additional mods and wastegates, I would have gotten 5.5 or so...I know Chris ran 5.1 or 5.2 with 18g's, but that was on E85...I wasn't getting within a country mile of that...
Have you checked you 1/4 and ET with the Pbox to get an idea?
Am I close?

stopping in the middle of the road ( in the semi industrialized jungles of Brazil)
at 2:00 AM and dropping the clutch at 5000. I did 3 of those and that was
my best. That setup would've netted 10.4s at the strip with a better 1/4
mile driver
I'm hesitant to try that nonsense with this setup! It's waaay more powerful.
I don't have a spare axle
I got a 10.7 on the pbox @ 131. with the 16g setup. That was me basically

randy has always been completely open about his mods. no secrets here just a ton of time research and oh yeah MONEY! went into this car. ina nutshell built motor with rods and headwork, alphas, intakes, exhaust , clutch, fueling and rwd conversion. the stones to run 1.5 bar on 109 fuel and massive weight loss.

perfect for a street setup.
This thing is brutally fast. I really can't imagine the setups that do 3s

I can hit 150 from a 5 mph roll in just under 12 seconds lol.
tomorrow eve if that's ok.
Kelly want to drive up to Nashville in the next couple weeks so I'll give you
a heads up and we can go grab a bite or something.
