K24 996 turbo toying with a RUF CTR3
K24 996 turbo toying with a RUF CTR3
Ever wondered how far you can push the K24 turbo. We'll there's a tuning company in the UK that has just done that, and the car is just awesome. Its circa 1000bhp at 1.7 bar boost on race fuel, but was 900bhp on the day
Have a look at these video's on Facebook against the RUF CTR3, it topped out at 215mph on the day

I found some more videos of the car here too against a Triumph Daytona 675

OK, so I should have said that the the Turbos are flow tested with a compressor map at 550hp each at 1.8 bar.
Its the K24 turbo, bigger cold wheel and modified hot-side so the laggy-ness of the turbo is gone. I drove the car, boost come on at 2.6k with full boost at 3.6k.
The engine is 3.8 build, and the mapping is done by Todd Knighton, who I'm sure you all know.
If you don't believe me, and you know Todd, give him a call for verification, as he worked with the UK Tuner during its build.
The UK tuner was even using the K16 turbo @1.6bar and getting between 800 and 850BHP, spool was at 2200rpm, so theses are tried and tested.
Hell, in the video footage you can see the speedo and the time it take so get to 200MPH.
Don't dispute things, just because the envelope is pushed on these Turbo's doesn't mean its not attainable. The RUF in the video is 777BHP verified.

I have to say, that is 1 amazing turbo that spools like a 16g and still makes 1000HP...Care to share? Who built the turbos? Actual specs?
I would imagine at that power level, with that spool, your 60-130's have to be in the low 4's...? High 3's?

No offense, but if you put the turbo "specs" in your first post, we wouldn't have "disputed" you quickly. You came on here and said that you have a K24 car making 1000hp...so sorry if we sound unconvinced as here in the states, a pair of k24's run out of steam at 550whp...to get double the WHP would require some magic...clearly you have that magic...congrats on your setup.

The turbos are built here in the UK, 60-130 is low 5's high 4's as is a full weight car, 4-wheel drive and is built more for a 0-186 times and control temps on the Intake temps, with no Meth but with 80lbs injectors.
On the day the car did 52 runs at over 210mph, so its runs all day, all the time, but its hitting the limiter at 7400 at 215 at the moment, so a longer gear in 6th is being spec'd for 230mph, and a strengthened 3 and 4th gear
The idea was to keep a 'bolt on/ bolt off turbo' so no external w/g etc. but keep the intake temps lower that 60c more like 50c.
If you look on YouTube, you can see some more videos of the k16 turbo version which was hitting 209mph.

Thank you for the clarification...makes a little more sense...still pretty impressive that you can run THAT much boost, THAT long, and still have reasonable IAT's with no Meth...would love those turbo specs..(the link you tried to post doesn't work?)
If you got YouTube and type and search for 'Nine Excellence', you should see some more videos. It seems the RUF CTR3 video is only available on FaceBook, so you would have to logon to FB and view there.

Car is running great! congrats! in uk weather i dont see iat such a big problem, also 210 mph can be done on stock k24 or maybe even less no need for hybrids there. Full boost at low 3000 rpms and >1000 hp even from a 3.8 build block?? Something isnt right imho....or you have found a magic key that i would be interested to buy.... Dyno or rpms might be wrong... do you have a dyno graph of that car? i would be more than interested...I am sure that is a really nice setup but lets compare to an alpha30 car , all those achivements can be done by a pair of 3076... I have seen 850whp on built 3.8 996 block using A76s ... Low 5s in street trim... Etc.... I would compare also those with k24/20g or so... Am i wrong ? But competition is good, would need more info on turbos... Those k1639 seem a much better turbo overall even i am a fun of bigger turbos. How do you keep iat at low values using 80s injectors ?

We are currently building a 9e17 car that will run soon. That is however k24 housing based since during initial testing backpressure was too great with our existing k16 housing hybrids. However we will not release that package until the car has done over 10000 miles of testing and endurance. The 9e20 and 9e25 are available today. The spec is as follows, although not limited too.
- 3.8 fully built motor with upgraded conrod, lightweight pistons, studs, gaskets etc
- fully customised fuel system with twin parallel pumps gravity feed with custom fuel rails including larger main line and larger return lines
- twin 074 plate clutch system
- Custom intercoolers
- Custom intake system with larger CFM
- uprated gearbox
- etc.
If you would like to experience what one of these cars feels like then please contact me. "
A bit odd to race a D675. I have one and it's fast off the line but not really built for high speed; I think it tops out somewhere around 160mph. You're probably better off using a Busa for high speed drag races.
