GT2 adding Tial 3071's

Hi Gang
I'm new to the site and could use some help. Motor is out for cooling line fix (yes I'm registering with the feds)

After 6+ years of mostly stock engine I'm stepping up to tial 3071's. in the 03 GT2. Already has headers, exhaust is being upgraded from 3.0" to 3.5 exhaust, adding 2nd fuel pump, 5 bar fuel regulator, silicone hoses, replacing clutch and pressure plate. Trans was rebuilt with motorsport gears. I'm about at the end of my budget for this upgrade but don't want miss something obvious. Giac tune currently and will be retuned once complete. GMG doing the work. Run mostly on 100+ fuel and will have cats.

Q. Stock GT2 injectors ok?
Q. Intercoolers good for now
Q. Any think I have missed?

Not trying to get top hp more interested in low end torque but internals are stock. Car has about 13,000 track/AX. Not street driven in 5 years but may want to license ie reason for the cats. I've kept the hp pretty stock for reliability. engine is maybe + 50-70 hp over stock with GIAC Hammer, exhaust etc I realy don't want to risk the motor by pushing the HP to high. Maybe 600-625 at the wheels MAX? ? ? ?

Thank you in advance for your suggestions.

i would think larger i/c and injectors would be mandatory to get even a small amount of the useable power out of a set of 3071's. i was told by my tuner to upgrade to 72 lb injectors for my build and im still on k24 turbos.

IF and when I go to the next level, those will be the turbos of my choice also. I do have the mods for them,as my signature shows them.
You will need bigger injectors and better intercoolers for those turbos ,without those 2 mods it really wouldnt be worth going to 3071's..

Thanks you both the input. I will most likely do the injectors now as the motor is out. Any suggestions on intercooler mfg's?....and what the cost might be?

confer with gmg and your tuner what injectors to use. some like 60 lb and some like 72 lb injectors. some tuners want the 5 bar fuel pressure regulator and others want the oem 3.8 fpr for driveability and idle . i originally had oem injectors and a 5 bar fpr and went to 72 lb injectors with a 3.8 fpr and with a proper tune can feel no difference in idle or driveability but now have much more fuel getting to my motor
997.2 i/c are very popular with the road race crowd and cost about 1200$ and markski has a nice set of 3.5" i/c in the 3k$ range. champion, usp, evoms, and switzer all also build i/c in the 2500 to 3000$ range
i used the thread by 02turbo996 and built my own 4.5" i/c for under 1500$

as a side note my car came from cali and had gmg do all the mods on the car. top shelf shop. my biggest complaint was the giac tune. shortly after getting the car i had it updated from a 91 oct tune to a 93 oct tune and the car ran pig rich. black exhaust tips in a single day. had a 103 oct file also and couldnt feel any difference in the 2. changed tuners and car is so much more responsive now.( i did also add more mods so the feeling may be skewed a bit). just my unscientific .02

There are several good makers of intercoolers out there..
997.2 are good bang for the buck though. Markski makes good ones.
I like like my AWE ones because they come with larger OD spigots and hoses, plus they have data on how they work..

Agree with the posts above - everything I've read anyway, injectors will be a must with your A3071's. And, for ICs, I'd say 997.2 will be your budget friendly option, or you can go with ETS, AWE, Forge, 911T, etc. etc. for an aftermarket option... what does GMG recommend?

Good luck! Sounds like it'll be a handful when you're done.

I have same turbo's; while the motor is out I would highly recommend installing turbo inlet pipes, one of the best little things I added for quicker spool and hear the whirling of the turbos sound pretty cool too. Also water/meth setup car runs great! I have the USP intercoolers - nice setup
