This is my first post. Hello everyone!

I have always wanted a beast of car like the Porsche Turbo 2001+ and now am at a point where I can afford one. I am looking for used and < 20k miles. I love seal gray exterior, black leather interior, and a 6 speed manual. I have about $75k to play with and I would need to be able to ship it to Germany. What things should I be looking for to get the best deal.

I can't wait to drive a Porsche on the autobahn.

Cheers!

If you can get you a 2002 or better then do that. If you plan mods then try and buy a car that has some you like already b/c the savings is huge that way. Some of the newer cars will still have a warranty but I'm unfamiliar if US cars get warranty abroad. Is the prices there too high for purchasing? Your best bet is look at some of the cars our members have for sale, www.autoweek.com www.autotrader.com and www.dupontregistry.com If there is a car you like it's possible someone from the board can check it out for you. Good luck.

If you plan to mod., no use in getting an X50. If not, I would suggest an '02 X50.

Not quite sure if Porsche's warranty is the same in Europe. Usually cars here get only 2 years/ unlimited km. The price of a Porsche 911 Turbo in europe with the current exchange rates are ultra high. I am better off buying from the states and paying $2k to ship it by boat.

I think '02 X50's are going for around 85k.......not 75k.

But if you shop around, you should definitely be able to get a standard '02 Turbo with less than 20K miles.

I thought prices would be cheaper in Germany? There are some grey market imports coming in that are coming in for about $62K (2001 in average condition).

The truth is that the exchange rate is killing us americans who live in Europe. It has gotten better over the last couple months but still not good enough to go to a german dealership and buy. I could probably get a 2001 turbo for 75,000 Euro but then add 20% to that thanks to the exchange rate and im at $96,000.

I do find it sad and funny that if I want to buy a used Porsche that it makes more sense to buy one from the states.

Built in germany.
Shipped to the states.
Shipped back to germany.
