Yellow Gauges Illumination - Problem?

Guys,

My 996TC has yellow gauges. I've noticed that during twilight hours, the illumination makes the digits blend with the gauge face almost to the point of being invisible. This is with the dimmer set to maximum brightness, too. It's actually better if I dim them to the max so they stand out as black on yellow. But it's a hassle to keep changing the dimmer settings.

Does anyone else experience this? And is there a brighter and still dim-able replacement gauge bulb, perhaps LED, that would solve this?

Give North Hollywood Speedometer a call 1-818-761-5136 I'm sure they can point you in the direction!

I had my yellow gauge done by North hollywood and they said nothing can be done on the 996 gauge cluster to improve illumination, it is very annoying.

Just curious are they factory gauge faces/ sounds like reflection from the faces themselves. Are they faded from sunlight possibly since it a convertible?

If it is not stock, probably out of luck...

Nope, it's totally stock - factory option. The pic was taken at twilight with the lights on. When they're off, the numerals and tics are black, so there's nothing to fade.

And judging from Jonty's response, it sounds like that's just the way it is. Which I'm okay with. I'd sooner "deal" with it rather than muck around in my instrument cluster if it's not a slam dunk like a bulb swap.

The "easy" solution???.....just remove the dash and desolder all of the leds; then change them for another color!!!

LOL Nah, I'm good thanks. It's really just more of a nuisance than anything else and not worth going heavy on.
