Front Bumper Fun
Front Bumper Fun
I've never liked the cheap looking plastic grills in the front openings, so I thought I would create some alternatives.
My initial thoughts were to simply remove the grills, but then I started thinking, what else could you do that would update/change the look of the front without replacing the complete front bumper.
I thought for sure I would love the quasi look of simply adding some slates across the large openings, but it looked to much like a Cayman front and somewhat like a base Carrera.
Then I thought there might be a chance for some 997 DRL's, so I created that.
After all was said and done, I think I prefer stock.
Either way, I thought I would share just for the fun of it.
The left side is of course (from top to bottom) the stock 996 Turbo, 996 GT2 and 997 Turbo.
The right side (from top to bottom) is with the grills remove, the GT2 look and the 997 Turbo look.

me either. timely post. i was about to remove the splitters and simply screen the larger ducts. though i wish i could just find a way to end up with the pic#4 and the stock bumper w/ 997 leds. it's clean without trying to be full 997 conversion, which is a bit much. looks and $$.
nice project there, i think stock on this car just looks the best, the DRLs look out of place and do not flow with the body like the 997. GT2 is always a win but the normal turbo bumper still looks great!

If anyone has an actual picture of their car with the grills removed, please post it.
I remember seeing one for sale when I was shopping for my car, but for some reason didn't save the picture.

If I put screens in, I would put them directly on the front of the radiators and not in the front bumper opening.
I'm not a fan of this look.

lol.. yes.. of course! i'm doing mine as much as a preventative against all the debris my car eats daily.. as much as to change up the look. blk screens against arctic should "match" the other blk bits. plus removing the splitters should mean i can give up on my wanting aftermarket drl's.
