I would like to complete this mod just to get rid of the squeaks and rattles that occur at times. Drives me nuts.

Do I even want to know what they charged you for this? (shudder)

I removed the headliner, the A, B, and C pilar linings, and seats before dropping the car off so they didn't have to spend any time on the removal of the interior. The labor was about $1700 which includes removal of front and rear glass, removal of existing sunroof panel, welding in the OEM solid roof panel, prep, paint, and reinstallation of the front and rear glass. Front glass has to be replaced with new while rear glass is reused. The whole process is actually very straight forward as the old roof panel is removed and the new roof panel is welded into the exact same location as done at the factory. I needed to have my windshield replaced anyway so this was a perfect time to do this. All the parts used in the conversion are OEM Porsche:
Front windshield: $480
Windshield seals: $40
Roof panel: $450
Headliner light panel cover: $50
Alcantara Headliner: $1650 (ouch, yeah I know. Lol!)

I could have had a new Alcantara headliner custom made at an automotive upholstery shop for about $600 but I wanted a perfect fit and finish and since one was in stock at the Atlanta warehouse I just opted to go that route. There are certainly cheaper options though.

I know this is not a necessarily cheap mod but considering my car is mainly a track toy, I never used the sunroof, liked the idea of shedding 26+lbs from the highest point on the car and liked the look of a smooth roof, well, it was worth it to me. Additionally, non sunroof turbo cars are very rare with only a tiny percentage ordered like that from the factory. I certainly feel that a non sunroof option ads to the value of the car. Just my $02...

Can you please post the parts list you used to do this? I would love to get rid of my sunroof. Thank you.

You are the man! My car is at the body shop right now for complete respray and now is the perfect time to do something like this. That headliner is surprisingly expensive.

Here is a list of the parts. Some of the part numbers may be different for specific cars depending on the interior color, whether you have a rain sensing windshield, anti dazzle rear view mirror, etc.. Best thing to do is call your dealer and give them your VIN number so they can get the proper parts in the right color.

Windshield: 996.541.901.07 (anti dazzle rear view mirror w/ rain sensor)

Windshield seal: 996.541.531.01

Rear glass seal: 996.545.521.04

Roof: 996.503.501.00GRV

Headliner:996.555.091.06A14 (Black) or 996.555.091.06C54 (Grey) Other colors are available also.

Map light cover: 996.555.557.115V7 (anti dazzle rear view mirror)

The headliner is the most expensive part. There are ways to get around it though. You can get an automotive upholstery shop make you one for around $500-600, or you can get one for $300-400 from someone that gutted their GT2/3 interior when they stripped it. Most common interior color is black so most that show up on the second hand market are obviously black. I didn't have the patience, nor the inclination to get a beat up second hand liner so I just bit the bullet and bought a new one. I hate cutting corners and if I do something I try to do it right the first time.

Since the glass is coming out of my car, I would like to have the fixed roof installed and worry about the headliner some other time. I'm over budget with my build as it is...

In your case this mod is a no brainer since your car is already going to be taken apart, basically just the cost of the roof plus welding. You can save money by removing the interior yourself before you drop the car of at the shop. You need to remove the headliner, A, B, and C pillars, and seats.. Takes a couple of hours but pretty straight forward.
