Consequences of over-filling oil???
HI,Most of the time I have seen on other vehicles that were over filled to the point that it did cause problems with seepage and blow by,,,,if corrected by removing the excessive oil when first realized ,,,, everything went back to normal....
But if you did do sustained high RPM driving, thus high oil pressure, when it was over filled you could introduce oil seepage at the weakest point in a gasket/seal area...
Good Luck..

I'd bet money this is exactly what happened. Worst case is you "hydraulic" (bend) rods when they try to compress a chamber full of oil on the compression stroke. Hopefully not the case!

Just got an e-mail from them that the car is running, and has been test-driven already. I just got back to town, so I haven't had a chance to discuss things with them, but I did ask that they check the plugs. Not sure the best way to check for a bent rod though.
In my other hobby (rockcrawling), vehicle roll-overs are common, as are the problems associated, such as oil in the cylinders. There were no knocks that I could hear when it smoked, so I'm hopeful that there wasn't that much oil in there. I guess I'll find out more info tomorrow.

Btw, here's the email from today:
So, things are looking good. I will require something in writing to offer some sort of guarantee on their work. Not sure how binding it would be though.
Hi John,
We cleaned and drained everything (crankcase, oil res, turbo oil collection containers, inlet pipes, boost pipes, MAF, and air box). Air filter was replaced. We redid the oil change and put the CORRECT amount in. The car has been driven several times by ***** and runs well. No issues were found after we performed the work. If you would like me to drop the vehicle off at your home, I can have that arranged tomorrow. Or, you are more than welcome to come pick it up.

Got it back, everything is tip-top. Runs great, feels great, sounds great. I talked to the shop foreman (Porsche trained tech), he admitted that he assigned my car to an Audi tech who didn't know there are 4 drains on a 996 turbo. I got very lucky since I did not drive the car much, or hard before the problem was found.

I think that even that is kind of a "cop out" reply. Apparently the tech didn't even know there are two main plugs. The turbo res. tanks can be skipped without a ton of used oil still being left in the system.
