Brake Pad Experience/Recommendations?
What brake pads have provided you good performance? Which left you wanting more?
I'm a new 996TT owner -- converting from Corvettes. Hawk and EBC are common vette brands. I see Pagid mentioned often wrt Porsches, but I'm not familiar with the brand. I've had really good experience with EBC's Yellowstuff on my vettes and wondering if there is anything "better" for my 996TT...
To keep things simple, assume the primary purpose is street with occasional track (DEs, etc.).

I just put on a set of Pagid RS19's (yellows) on the front of my TT and couldn't be happier. The car stops so much better than the stockers on the street. I was so happy with them that I just ordered rears. I plan to do a few DE's with the car but its mainly street driven.
when I had stock brakes on my 996tt I heard nothing but good things about the Pagid stuff but never had a chance to try them out
I ended up putting on some Hawk DTC30's on the front and HP Plus Pads on the rear for track duty as recommended by Hawk..they worked really well, night and day difference over an OEM equivalent pad on track -- i would switch back to stock pads after the weekend to save brake dust and noise.
and as a shameless plug for myself I have a set of Used Front DTC30's that came off of my 996tt that I can sell you cheap if you want to try them out...only have 6-7 sessions on track on them and 150 or so street miles -- liquidate them for $85 if you want them.

I love my PFCs. I was never fan of the Pagids. I have driven several cars with EBC's, not sure why people say they are good...every car i have driven with those on, brake pedal felt terrible to me.
Which PFC Compound did you have? I am looking for something that brakes well but is quiet on the street?? Probably wont do much track time...

My EBC Experience
I don't have enough experience with different brands to offer much of a defense for EBC, but my experience with them was fantastic. Moving from a ceramic street pad in my C4 vette to EBC Yellowstuff probably reduced my dry braking distance by 15% or more. The real improvement was wet braking - I'd conservatively estimate a 25% reduction in stopping distance. Pedal modulation felt good to me, but I might not be the best judge.
