Can I take out the spare?

All,

My TT has upgraded brakes that are large enough that standard 18" 996 Turbo wheels won't fit (custom 18" wheels do). Is there any point in me keeping the spare in the front trunk? I doubt it will fit. Also, if I take it out, is losing weight there a bad idea handling/balance wise? Would like some feedback! thanks

take it out, won't make any real difference..as added confidence: GT2's don't come with a spare from factory

No point if it doesn't fit. If it does, definitely nice to have. I hit a rock on a mountain road and was glad I had it. Put the regular wheel in the plastic bag in the backseat and drove home

Have you tried the spare on the car, see if it clears? I have the big calipers and rotors, mine does fine. Needed to use it 2 times in the last 2 years, would have needed a tow truck otherwise. Those back tires are a magnet for debris on the street.

So, I guess I haven't tested it, per se. It would seem odd if 18" stock wheels won't fit but the little spare does? I suppose I won't pull it quite yet.
