"Emissions system needs service" msg appears again...

After being repaired by the AM Dealer, which termed the issue, "reset Monitors", as per my Service Order. As the work only happened 40-some days ago, they are going to see it in early June - no charge. Just curious as to whether any other V8V 4.7 owner has experienced this problem? If so, WHAT is a permanent fix for this?

Thanks, Tom

That message can show up and mean nothing. Reset and wait to see how quick it comes back up.

Clearing codes isn't a repair and the no charge coming up will be you need to have this and that replaced.
Could be a number of things that caused it, from minor to OMG how much?
Buy a simple reader $30-50.
The permanent fix is buy a EV.

I had the "Emission System Service" light come on several times. The codes were for "small emission leak". I changed the purge valve, a couple of hoses, but it came back intermittently. Turns out that it was the gas cap. When doing a pressure check, the Aston gas cap failed. I replaced the gas cap with a cheap Land Rover gas cap ($17 on Amazon). I wanted to try that before spending $350 for the metal gas cap. The Amazon gas cap solved the issue. I haven''t had a failure in about 6 months and a couple of thousand miles.

On my DB9 I’ve had this message several times. Each time the code(s) have pointed to O2 sensors. I’ve just been clearing the codes and carrying on. I have, however, discovered a repeatable pattern whereby the error message (and the associated codes) tend to show up after a few short trips, particularly if I just start the car, move it to a different place in my garage, and shut it off. If I drive the car for longer durations, the error does not appear. This gives me some comfort that I’m not harming the car by simply clearing the codes. My guess is that the behavior is related to the charge state of the battery, or some sort of oil fouling of the sensors, or both.

Edit - yes I know I’m referring to a different engine than yours but perhaps the behavior may be related.

Knowing what codes are being flagged is key to solving the problem... Buy a cheap reader, get the engine codes and report back!

Thnaks all- my 02 sensors have all been replaced about 2-3 months back.....the "Emissions check" keeps reappearing so I will be taking my 2010 V8V back to LoCo Exotics to take another look. They warranty their work so no charge.....these 1st Gen 'electronic' cars (as opposed to analog cars) are particularly frustrating on some days! But once I get it properly sorted, it's gonna be great!

I really do suggest getting a simple code reader. At minimum, you will know what is happening with your car. It can also give the shop an idea what the problem is.....

Guess what? Diagnosis is a cracked EGR valve

So, my question is this: is there a cross-reference Ford V8 EGR valve that would work? My car is a 2010 V8V 6 sp (3 pedal)?
Thus far, my research has been unclear ( but I’m not too well- versed in just how to search).
Any leads or recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
