Thanks Arling! But I need the Sport Seats in order to be included in this distinguished group . . . see ya tomorrow for those!

FWIW, I suspect that many of the "Top Dawgs" in the 996TT world are not known by this forum. For example, I was speaking with the head engineer from 9ff a few days ago and they have a car that purportedly did a 10.2 quarter mile. Thats faster than anyone here has done by a considerable margin (although some here may soon be capable of better). PSI has an 850 hp 996TT in Europe that is supposed to be unreal. Certain other European tuners have similar monster 996TTs that we here are not familiar with. Our small sampling is far from the universe of outrageous 996TTs.

Notwithstanding the foregoing, we do have some pretty damn impressive 996TTs on this forum!

Craig

Chad,
You should take KA over to Europe for the tuner GP.

Don't really know. My contact, former feature article editor, Dave Colman, no longer writes for Excellence.

Neil,

Been to one Tuner GP. It was fun, but I thought it was somewhat circus in atmosphere. Don't mean that in a bad way, it just wasn't what I was expecting.

We tried to get something going months ago. No interest, I believe many have too much to lose. It won't be to their advantage Their performance numbers are known. I believe many of those numbers will be old news very soon.

Would PSI be interested in a comparison test vs KA somewhere in North America? Todd @ EVO has expressed a past interest. I'm sure if one or more European Tuners who have operations in the US showed any interest .................. an event could be arranged.
Hershel you have to do this

We are interested, but to much is made of the 1/4 mile.I think you would get alot more interest if a major part of the shoot out was on a road course.

Neil,

I really liked contests like the ones conducted by AutoBilt magazine.

As mentioned, much is made in the US of 1/4 mile, whereas Euro owners are far more interested in track-times or sustained high-speed usage.

There is also a big difference in design requirements, durability and expected performance from a one-off custom-built mega-spec engine and those built by major tuners (Ruf, PSI, Techart, Sportec etc etc) at 600-700bhp that are also designed to be standard packages and reliable enough to be warrantied for 1-2 years.

whats the fastest 6 speed manual in a 1/4 mile to date? seems like most of the cars that dipped into 10 s were tips? Ive done at least 70 runs in mine in the last 3 years... and it sucks at the line... especially with the manual. first gear is practically useless, 2nd is not far behind.. thats why I think the tips have an advantage.... is easy to get a 1.6 60 ft in a tip....with 700 or 800 HP...
manual trannies become useless with that much power unless u change the gears...

Craig, the fastest 996tt's are in the US. Not all of us post everything. We didn't bend all six rods or turned a 1.9 0-60 with only 850 hp. In about six weeks we'll match KA against any licensed 996tt.
Chad,

What is it such a secret what your car ran in the quarter mile? I don't get it?
