Running 91 oct on a 93 oct tune?

I plan on driving my Turbo about a 1k miles on a road trip. I know I might hit some places that doesn't have 93 oct gas so I will be forced to run 91 oct.

If I just don't go WOT and stay under .4 Bar would it be okay to run 91 on a 93 tune?

Is there a proven octane booster that works well in 996tt that I could use if I did use 91 oct? Or is just staying out of boost okay enough?

I hear the Torco Octane Accelerator works the best. Is there a better one?

Any Suggestions is really appreciated!

i had to do the same thing driving mine back from the east coast when I bought it. When I was on 91 I just didn't boost the engine (tried to keep it under .2bar) when i was getting in the interstate, etc.

The car can handle .7 bar (stock boost) on 91. Just don't floor it up to redline, and you'll be fine. You don't need to baby the car.

Don't do it! Already 2 people have blown there motors this year on here. Keep it under WOT until you get 93 octane.

i say dont worry too much .. if you have a good tuner he isnt going to tune at the border... you still should have a lot of safe margin there... ok assuming you are not using 87 octane or so... the difference btw 91 and 93 isnt that big tough, in the end we have a smart ECU and a lot of failsafes in place... pulling timing, n75 control, tb control etc.. i am not an expert but saying your engine will blow if running 0.9-1.0bar (assuming K16 turbos) on 91 octane, i think is too much, try to avoid WOT in the heat, higher gears (above 4th) and for a long time, dont do these cumulative for sure, at least this is what i would do.. also keep some 93 in the tank all the time so you will use a mix of 91 and 93 if possible

If you have room and want that safe feeling,,, they sell nice 6gal.gas containers a filled up with 100 Oct. or higherUnleaded.. Then you can throw a splash in when needed..
You can also check on locations that sell race fuel in the area you are in on the Web..
