Just put a hold on this 996tt, anyone know it?
I've owned lots and lots of cars since the '60s. Made some poor buying decisions based on impulse and emotion. Had a dealers license too, sold lots.
My advice, stay away from cars with stories, period. There are too many great low mileage, enthusiast owned and very well taken care of examples out there that pop up for sale. They may not be the cheapest, or for sale for long periods of time, but they are the best of the best. Look for a terrific car first, check it out thoroughly, lastly agree on a price. Too many people shop price first, which is wrong.

My Dad managed an Auction where they sold all the damaged cars for the insurance companies. We would literally buy complete dealerships of flood cars! Last one I remember was a VW dealership and the cars all had about the same level of water damage as the car you are looking at. We sold them for half of current auction values. We had trouble with just about every one of them! Always electrical stuff! There is a reason these vehicles get salvaged! The title on that car sounds fishy as well! I have never seen a salvaged flood car get a clean title that was wrote off by an insurance company? It has to be branded on the carfax! I wouldn't pay any more then 20 to 25K for that car! I guarantee you that's about all that dealer has in it! There is nothing more expensive then a cheap German car! Lol!

Classic!
I know all about this from making poor decisions in my youth! It hurts to think about it.
