You read my mind. I also contacted a salesman at my dealership that I have know for years to see if he could get more info since I do not want to buy it just to look at it.

I bet him 2 cents it is the TechArt/Ruf unit that bolts to the transmission, but with a Porsche logo and price on it. Jeff

Thanks Jeff for the TSB. I lost the 2 cent bet.

The short shifter is the same as the B&M style that mounts in the shift tower - which means you have to replace the shift lever. Has nothing to do with the Ruf/Techart style units that bolt to the transmission.

The drawing of the Porsche short shifter looks identical to the B&M unit.

I have put in about 20 B&M short shifts and the Porsche instructions in the TSB are not even good.

The drawing of the "Porsche" short shift is identical to this picture of the B&M shift lever unit.

A B & M for 2 and change is a deal and a half IMO, great upgrade, great value.

Jeff can you post that pic please. I thought for sure it would be a bracket job. I wonder who makes it for them.
TIA

The factory short shift option is virtually identical to the B and M unit offered by Brandywine. I belive the factory option is the unit under the shift **** nit the one on the transmission. Anyway....the price difference is about 400.00

I just bought the B&M kit that bolts on to the tranny from Brandywine. The Porsche part is made by B&M. The parts manager told me they could no longer sell either of the B&M kits because Porsche was now pressuring them (all dealers?) to sell the Porsche "branded" parts.

This is too funny. B&M is making Porsche's new in -console short shifter , while it seems Tech Art is making B&M's new undercar short shifter , same poorly translated from German instructions and pics ! Problem is, the B&M undercar kits don't come with the longer bolt for the black bracket as in the TechArt , but ByDesign says the stock lower bolt can be used if you can get 4 turns. Anyone successfully installed the B&M undercar kit reusing only the stock lower bolt for that black bracket ?

short shift kit

I have also been researching it for some time and found out that it is actually the B&M kit which Porsche buys and resells it. The proce is consistent with what was told. Got this info from Powertech Rockaway, NJ
