I like Redline Heavy shock load trans oil , as many others do at the track
I have seen several different types of trans apart that have used it and they looked great and it clinged like glue which is very important..

agree. can't go wrong w redline 75/90. factory interval seems optimistic. i would change every 30k. it's the differential fluid interval i wonder about.

I changed my gearbox fluid 5x this year. I do it every 6 track days using Mobil1 Delvac 75w90. The stuff comes out pretty filthy especially if you have an LSD because of all the particulates that shed off the clutches. Delvac is standard fill in the Cup cars / GT2/3 which all of which use an LSD. I buy Delvac in 5 gallon pails at $150 which works out to $30 per change since you need 1 gallon. For a stock 996TT with an open diff the OEM Mobilube PTX or Shell Transaxle work well as they are slightly thinner than the Delvac and will flow a touch better in freezing temps. You can get the Shell from your dealer in 1Liter bottles for about $25 each. Most gearbox builders will tell you to change at 15K mile intervals for street driven cars.

!! or every thousand miles is ok too lol. porsche says every 60k? which i think again is overly optimistic. so every 30k seems to work for me for a street car. but more *frequent* fluid changes can never hurt.

I did a lot of research on this a few weeks ago before I changed mine. After all the reading I decided to go with the OEM fluid change of the Mobilube PTX. I paid 31/qt at Porsche of Newport Beach. I figured with the price tag of these gearboxes why put anything but the factory recommended fluid in?

Thank you 32krazy.
Just purchased 1 gallon for my 04 6spd.
Best price I could find too.

makes sense, erring on the side of caution. but i have found we safely have some latitude when it comes to *some* fluids, eg coolant/trans oil and motor oil,.. even brake fluid.

i'm kinda brand sensitive when it comes to pentosin though

Redline 75W/90. Ran 7 track days with 3.3K miles total on the fluid (11 months old) and sent a sample to Blackstone for analysis. The report came back with very good results, and can run the oil longer.
