Hey Guys, I just saw this article on a test of the Top 2 radar detectors in my 1/14 Car and Driver issue.

The Passport 9500xi. The one with the laser jammers is the way to go! It has saved me so many times that it has more than paid for itself. I have gotten more tickets in the company car than my 911TT. LOL

The low rating for Valentine 1's "Selectivity" makes me wonder if they haven't read the technical bulletins on the V1 from the website. Switching the V1 into programming mode, I can pretty much filter the bands that I want and don't want.
Of course, the V1 doesn't have GPS, so that's lacking, but as far as "selectivity" goes, it's pretty damn selectable. It should have certainly warranted better than a "1" rating vs. the Escort's "10."

I've been using a v1 for years. Still prefer it to the Escort.

Valentine recently released V1connection that enables the user to further customize their V1 through programming it in their iPhone or Android phone. There is a app "YaV1" available in the google play store that greatly reduces false alerts, while increasing the range of the V1.
I wanted to know if I could still use my GPS Nav apps on my iphone in concert with the V1Connection app, or if the Valentine app has to stay active (thus preventing use).

Yea I'm a V1 guy as well. I'd rather be the one filtering out what is a threat and what isn't vs the little computer chip. It's a radar detector after all, not a cop detector.

I have the 9500 escort and a valentine. The escort is soooo much better. Reads radar from a lot further out. The GPS feature is so nice, don't have to hear constant beeping of the same crap you pass each day. I'm ready to rip all the integrated valentine crap out of my car for another escort
