Also check out m5board.com, a couple have been dyno'ed, guess they are testing in the 530-540hp range... BMW underrated them from the factory... That car is a beast!!

That 530-540 is bhp right?!

If you have the opportunity, don't think twice.

You could prbably drive it for a couple of months and if you are not feeling it (you will!) sell it, probably for the same amount, or more...

But it sure looks good on paper.

If you don't want , I'll take it.

Someone here posted that drive it for a year you wont lose on it?????
Hate to burst the bubble ALL crad loose their value unless you have the upper echelon of cars like the CGT, Enzo etc.
A M5 is not going to be a rare car.
Stick with Porsche there just isnt any substitute, besides how fast does it need to be if you need rear seats.
I dont know but the choice shoud be clear

And you wont have to deal with the Idiot-Drive MM center,

Ive got an Interlagos Blue/Black leather/ aluminum trim M5 slated for a week 37 production (mid sept) with a late October delivery date.

If you know anyone crazy enough to pay 15k over list I'll flip it now Otherwise Ill keep it for a year then try to get myself into a 996TT '03.

M5 is stupid fast for a four-door sedan. Hell, its stupid fast for ANY sub $100k car straight from the factory.

My friend own's the only one here in the Philippines, and we went for a drive last weekend, its a beast. I wasn't driving my Turbo though, so we haven't had a proper head-to-head yet.

Maybe this weekend we will. Will try to get videos if we do. My turbo is 100% stock, so it will be a good test of straightline speed.

Cheers!

Go on the m3 forums and read about the recalls, blown motors, and problems with the first generation of the smg. I know several people that had many problems with them.

That being said, look at the m5 like a year lease. If you drive it for a year, and it loses 10k in value, you just paid 800 and change a month to drive it. Not a bad deal. If you're going to get back into a TT in a year, why not drive something different. As much as I love the TT, its still fun to drive other cars.

Maybe you should look at CGT values. The reality is some of them have lost THE VALUE OF A NEW M5 in less than a year. Very few new cars are the exception and most of those happen to be Ferrari's bought at list price. Lot's of cars are hot initially but very few are able to sustain. If you are getting a new M5 early and keeping for a year you'll probably lose the sales tax, but not much $ if sold privately.

Sorry to say it but your gonna see the tailpipes of that M5 if your doing a straightspeed run.
There's videos of a 510bhp TT and the E60 M5 on m5board and they're neck & neck.

My guess is when you guys hit 90mph he will start reeling you in and after that it's not even funny..

470ish rwhp is respect! even if it's in a family car...

(sorry for the the M5-is-God-post, couldn't help it...)

And then you hit some twisties and realize that no amount of electronic aide can overcome the 4500lb weight of the M5 and you wave as your tt easily goes by!
