M5 for TT
M5 for TT
Just got a call from my local bimmer dealership and someone backed out on an M5 sept allocation with an oct. delivery. I was originally on the list but backed out because of the appearance, I-drive etc., but the reviews have been fantastic. There are a number of posts on the M5 board about the new M5 besting our TTs.
Do you guys think I am crazy considering trading my TT for the M5? I would only plan on keeping the M5 until the 997 TT comes out--hopefully by next fall.

Also check out m5board.com, a couple have been dyno'ed, guess they are testing in the 530-540hp range... BMW underrated them from the factory... That car is a beast!!

Get the M5 - it is an amazing car. Getting an early allocation car will allow you to drive if for a year and lose little or no money (as noted above). It is a great daily driver and will be a rocket.
I would not be too concerned about 1st year issues as the car has been selling in Europe for 9 months and M5's have never been know as cars with issues as they always come out well after the current 5 series has worked out all the bugs. I have had 4 M5's - 1988, 1993, 2000 and 2003 and all were outstanding cars without a single issue. My 2000 was the first m5 delivered at my dealer. I have a new one coming sometime early next year.
If you list of other cars is past cars and you only have one the m5 will be quite different than your Turbo. It could replace the Turbo and the SUV. If that list includes your current cars, then consider an SUV, an M5 and the Turbo!
Again if you can get that allocation spot take the car, get it, it you don't like it you can flip it and loose nothing. Sell your Turbo after you decide which one you want.
