Looking to get some personal feedback on the RUF exhaust system. It appears to be a modified stock exhaust system, but I have not been able to find any performance data verses stock. Is it still a restrictive system?

I have an exhaust like this. I bought it from SamboTT and like it. It is not as free flowing as a "race" exhaust, but I like the quiet. There is NO drone....

It is a great mod that flow wise sits somewhere between stock and free flow, but again, no drone and pleasant on the ears.

I've gone back and forth, and stopped here. I believe SamboTT's is made to RUF 550 Spec. I am running 550+ out of mine.

I have one. Zero drone, deep tone at low rpm, sounds like a jet at high rpm when car is on boost. 100 cell cats. I don't know how restrictive it is but my car is on full boost at 1.3 bar at 3500 rpm with K24 hybrids which tells me that it flows pretty well. A genuine RUF exhaust will have a have a RUF i.d. plate welded to the bottom of the exhaust with their logo and part number on it. All the RUF exhausts come with 4 individual tailpipes. The highest flowing RUF exhaust is used on the 550 and 590 Nardo engine and has 100 cell cats.

 

The 590 RUF exhaust I had was an amazing sound/tone, very exotic and unlike any other exhaust you'll hear on a turbo (maybe my RUF package had to do with it also) and the turbos !

You'll have good performance from it as well, it's a solid setup.

 

I've also had 3 separate sets of the RUF 996 Turbo exhaust and each was made to perfection and had a unique tone throughout the band.

I have the exhaust as part of the RUF 550 conversion, sounds perfect no drone. 4 years later and I don't even know it's there, that's a good thing!

 

Thanks guys. I pulled the trigger on the RUF 550 exhaust. Has the RUF i.d. plate and logo welded to the bottom of the exhaust...thanks again for the guidance!!!!!!
