Porsche Parts - Exterior

I've got the good ol' bumper warts/bumperettes/oddities on the front of my 01 996TT. I'm looking at my options for getting rid of them and it seems the best bet would just be a replacement. I'm not to big on the idea of making the switch to FRP, so most of the kits are out. I'd love to do the GT2 conversion but at 8k... I have a few other things higher on the list... In reality I'd probably just be better off grabbing the bumper off of a doner car, but I'm not sure where to look.

Any suggestions? It'd be great to find one in Basalt Black so I could just slide it on But that'd be picky.

Go look in the classified section for a replacement turbo bumper. They can be had for a couple hundred. If you post a WTB add, I'm sure you'll have a few PMs of people wanting to sell you their bumpers. Ebay usually has some too. That will be your best bet if you want to keep using OEM parts. Once in a blue moon someone will offer an OEM GT2 bumper for sale so you can wait for that. There are also GT2 replica bumpers out there that are made of poly. NR Auto has one.

Aren't the front bumperettes part of the grills and you can just swap em out?

Yes they are part of the grill but they are secured in place via 3 attachment points that go right through the bumper. New bumper is the only real solution unfortunately.

You can't plug the holes with bumper plugs like you can for license plate holes since 2 of the holes are actually slots. If i can find the pic of this i will post it. I suppose you could have a body shop fill the holes and repaint but repair of poly doesn't work that well and probably wouldn't look great after a few years.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'll likely go the patch and new grill route seeing as the paint on the bumper is already damaged. Just unfortunate that the grills are two bills each.

you can prolly find a painted stock bumper for less than the cost of patching and painting your existing one, few hundred bucks or less depending on condition
