Suspension Help!
Has anyone experience with Ksport Pro Coilover suspension? Just can't afford the ohlin, bilstein, or anything in that price range. I'm looking for a "low budget" alternative for my 02 996tt. I have perused the forum and couldn't find anything difinitive.
I use the car for aggressive driving with a local club and every so often a "road race". If you have or have had this suspension would you share your experience? And any other sugestion. Also let me know what size wheel you are using. Thanks,

I have the k sports on my silver car. I really like them. They are very adjustable . I have the ride height set so I can just make it over speed bumps. They are not harsh but but nicely tight. It is my daily driver in the summer, I autocross and just occasionally track. I really like them, and for the 1300$ a very good deal.
2nd that!
I was in your boat and could not fathom putting that type of money out, but after research and talking to enough people that had experience I did.
I waited for around 8months so I can do it properly. I got a set of used KW V3's with only 5000km from a Porsche performance shop for $2100 and then waited until I could of done the other supporting mods. Also for the install and alignment I got a facility that races these car to set it up!
After the install and my first drive I would pay FULL retail for my KW V3's and EVERY suspension mod I did in a heart beat!! COMPLETELY CHANGED MY CAR to a supercar feel...just felt right!!
Ask your self, "How do I improve on a $180 000(CDN) sports car suspension?" and not any sports car, one that has been in the business of making cars go fast around tracks for over 50yrs, longer then any other marque.
It would not be cheap, but when done I promise you, you WILL 100% get what you paid for.
Here is post after the install:

I don't have any experience with KSport, but after removing the OEM suspension this last weekend. I would think just about anything would be an improvement over stock.
I do agree that it would be good to save and buy quality. But in the end it's up to you.

A buddy of mine put a set of BC racing coilovers on (which I believe are re-branded K-sports) and one of the shocks literally snapped in half while he was pulling out of a parking lot. Granted they were used, so maybe there was something wrong with them when he got them.
Steve K..Spring add to existing struts?
Steve,
I like your comment about adding H&R springs to existing 996TT struts. Can you accomplish nearly the same effect as buying new coilovers at 1/10 the price. If you have experience with this I would love to get details on the components including sway bar changes. Thanks, Dave

yes you absoluteley can.
ive had coilovers on every single car ive owned (a bimmer, 2 audis, and my 996 turbo). my 997 has gmg springs, gmg sways on factory struts.
sway bars make the biggest difference in how a car handles..
unless your 996 is a dedicated track car, you dont need coilovers.. keep in mind that shocks will wear out A LITTLE quicker with lowered springs, but once that happens, then shell out some $ for a set of coilovers if you want, if get your oem shocks rebuilt.
find a gt3 sway bar, slap on some h&r springs and you'll transform the handling of your car.

Thanks Steve for the info!! Sorry for my obvious ignorance, are you saying that only the rear sway bar is needed? Are links typically used for this or connect directly to the stock point?

I have had a few suspension setups on my car.
1) H&R springs, stock sway bars - Hated it.
2) H&R springs, Eibach sway bars - big improvement but once I got more comfortable with the car and drove it harder it became unacceptable.
3) OE springs and Eibach sways - A little better than the H&R springs. Rear felt a little less heavy.
4) KW V3's and Eibach sways - Like driving a completely different car from where I started. This suspension even got my anti rear engine friend considering a 996TT.
My next step is going to be to go slightly stiffer on the springs and linear all the way around.
Like many are saying, consider your uses when deciding how much it's worth to spend. I have some awesome windy roads full of sweepers and hairpins here so I get a chance to drive it hard often. If I lived somewhere with mostly straight roads I might be fine with the H&R's and sways (although they were too low for my tastes).
