The problem is you've posted several times in your thread, but you haven't even provided any basic information, never mind a single specific, so that someone can help. Hence my basic questions to try and understand your goals so at least basic answers can be given. And it's also apparent you haven't searched at all, and that's something everybody should do first to see what information is already available. Given tires are one of, if not the most discussed topic on the forum, there's a ton of information already out there, including probably the answers to most if not all of your questions.

So that's why I suspect you're getting the responses you are...


Myself and many other people I know and trust have very poor opinions of the Conti DWS from personal experience and a lot of feedback from people we know and trust as well. Overall, like most all-season tires, it's poor in all seasons. If someone did want to make the poor decision to run all seasons, there are at least a half dozen other tires I'd suggest first.

The DWS is also NOT in any way up to handling the power level of our cars unless you drive like a grandma. The tread compound and pattern is not anywhere near aggressive enough for a car of this level. There's a reason Porsche has no spec for all-seasons tires. These cars require high performance summer and winter tires. Any way, why would anyone want to scrimp, save, or otherwise short-change themselves, their car, their family, and everyone's safety that climbs in that vehicle by putting sub-standard parts on the most critical part of the car, the only part that actually meets the road?

All I know is 'I Do' drive my car with my below 18g set-up all year around in Chicago weather and have tried several other brands of PremiumHP all season tires in which I have found these DWS tires to be the best so far when it gets below 40 degrees...
For a street tire,not a track tire ,they do nicely over a summer tire in the cold,,as I stated I put DWs on in the summer...Also these DWS will have more traction then a snow tire on dry surfaces and wet surfaces which we encounter in the late fall thru early spring..
Just sharing my real life experiences ..

I went DWS tires for year round per the above recommendation. I will let everyone knows how it goes.

At first I ran the 285/35/18 rears but I changed to 295/35/18 rears which I do like better,, with 245/40 /18 fronts now.

since we are all here, was wondering how "good" (or bad) are the Sumitomo HTR Z III for the track? I did search a while back and looks like a fair amount of people run them (the price is comical considering how expensive everything else is for this car)

bought my car equipped with them, no complaints for normal street use, but havent really pushed the car

im going to run tomorrow at PBIR (work permitting) - will i fall off the track?

im used to full Pirelli slicks on my M3 - i wont be pushing so hard since its a new track and new to the track car for me

I've heard good things about the Sumitomo's as well. Tirerack rates them highly in their class as well. I have run a Miata on RA-1's at the track and those are amazing, so I don't expect the same level of grip when I track the Pcar, but I wonder how they'll do...
