Looking for cheap sticky tires ?
and that's with perfect alignment and wear pattern
how "long" a tire does or doesn't last on this car isn't really the main criteria i use though when replacing them.

My first experience with V12's was when they came on a set of HRE's I bought from another forum member. At first I thought they were ok, but having driven 911's for a couple of hundred thousand miles, plus other performance cars for another few hundred thousand miles, and having tried most of the high performance tires on the market, I rank them as terrible. The only thing they have going for them is the price. The treadwear rating is a joke IMHO since I only got about 7-8k miles out of my rears and maybe 12-13k out of my fronts. With Michelins, Pirellis, or any of the other premium tires I've run on 911's I always got about 10k miles out of the rears and 20k out of the fronts. I also got WAY better traction! I actually bought a second set of them because I thought I'd gotten an old or improperly stored set, or my alignment was messed up, or my power levels were messing with them, but at the end of the day the tires just don't grip.
With reference to the post(s) about tire pressures, I tried many different pressures from low to high and none of them resulted in good performance. I also tried them on the track just for the heck of it since I wanted to burn up the second set I had as quickly as possible and get some real tires, and I actually found them to be ok for the compound and price. When heated up they finally got some grip!
They were all the rage when they first came out since they came in just about any size a Porsche car driver could need, they were usually only about two thirds to three quarters the price of a set of Michelins, Contis, Pirellis, etc., and they were supposed to last significantly longer than any of those. I think now any of us who really drive our cars and have run a lot of different tires know they're a lousy tire not worth the junk price of the steel in the belts.
Now I'm glad I live in Colorado where it rains so little in the summer that I can run R888's on my daily driver, though I'll be going to NT01's once my R888's are done since the general impression I get is they're a little better (plus I just like to try new tires, hence why I've run just about every high performance tire out there!
). But the R888 is still an awesome street tire and boy can you corner like a banshee on the mountain roads with a boatload of confidence they'll hold you to the pavement!
