Wagner intercoolers on sale
Guys, just thought I'd post this:
http://www.wagner-tuning.com/PORSCHE-996-TT-Upgrade-Intercooler-Kit_p_11.html
Not affiliated with them in any way, but just bought a set for myself. They are on sale for about another hour or so. Their website cycles a couple products every two hours to be on sale, so if you don't want to buy right now, it'll probably come back up for sale again (I saw they were for sale for a few hours yesterday too.)
Looking forward to getting them installed!

I probably won't be the best candidate for that, I'm doing intercoolers, plugs, coils, injectors, turbos and tune all at once, so I won't have a before and after assessment.
After all that is done then I'll need to get an upgraded clutch put in before doing dyno testing.
There's a couple other guys running these already, not sure if they've posted any measurements.

They seem to be the best bang for the buck right now on serious Intercooler upgrades.
Why are they black?
I tried calling their US number and the guy who answers the phone can't tell me squat except look at their website. I think they are running it out of their basement. He keeps putting me on hold to ask somebody a question then comes back with no answers to anything....
kind of amusing that you comment on this Mr. Blackmagic. ;-) you are correct, unless a "thick" black coating imparts a loss of conductivity. That said, black anodized would be a winner

Black is good for dissipating heat when not moving, but when ur not moving your not generating boost and heat associated with boosting.
Coating or painting an intercooler will impair its natural purpose at dissipating heat through convention.
Black radiators make sense, black intercoolers not so much.
I hope u didn't fall for this video

I've seen the video and while not conclusive I do believe that a thin black coating on a radiator is an advantage. Have you found a counter video?
Dark colors are emitters and there are certainly specialty coatings specifically for the purpose. Bare aluminum can corrode and become less efficient, AC repair guys have specific (corrosive) chemicals to clean this off as a result. I don't think the difference in this case is likely to be significant but I *believe* the darker color is beneficial and movement would make it even more so. Every little bit helps <shrug>

Radiators gets its name from how it dissipates heat.
Intercoolers need air to draw the heat away and adding even a thin layer of insulation via paint or any other coating negates that....
