ECU programming and such
ECU programming and such
When I got my 996tt, I was told that there is some kind of ECU programming done to it for more power.
Seeing what previous owner did and how he (perhaps and idiot she, do not want to discriminate here) did it, I'd like to check what's in there and maybe replace it with something that is the newest version of stock.
Can you fabulous professionals help me here with some guidance?

If you have a dyno in your area you could do a few pulls and log with an external wideband air/fuel ratio probe and verify the car is tuned well. Just make sure they know how to dyno a 996tt so they don't roast your diffs.
Congrats on your new car and welcome to the party! There are tons of options out there for "getting a tune" for your new ride. Your best bet is to do a search here in the forums, and listen to the advice of the elder statesmen on the topic. They'll be clearly identifiable from the search results.
Careful though, it's a slippery slope... modding is an ailment for which there is no cure! Ask me or countless others how we know.

I think we have one guy here at IPS Motorsports who hosts dyno event during TimmayFest. This is happening next week, but I mu concern how taxing these pulls are on my clutch and entire drivetrain.
Here is my thoughts, I drove one other 996TT before, here in Columbus OH and while it had 83K miles and was in severe need for maintenance (ABS fault, nearly dead clutch, engine rattled at idle like can of nuts and bolts....), it pulled at lower rpm better then my princess.
My boost appears at 2300rpm +, but ever so slightly, however at 3500+ she explodes and I flies like a rocket. I am thinking that this can be tuned for a bit flatter curve, where I get to enjoy the entire rpm range.

I'm not understanding what you're asking for... To me it sounds like you bought a car that is already tuned, you want to know if it is safe or if you should go back to a stock tune.
Your last post sounds like you want a re-tune.
Either way, the difference you're feeling between the two cars could be a number of things. Some examples:
1. stock vs x50/gt2 turbos - the x50 turbos would produce more power at the expense of increased lag.
2. boost or exhaust leaks
3. condition of plugs/coilpacks
4. wastegates
5. differences in exhaust/intake
A few pulls on the dyno are not at all taxing for the car, as long as the rollers are setup for the Porsche awd system.
You may be able to retune to get a bit more low-end, but it would probably be at the expense of the top-end.
Turbo blankets and a free flowing exhaust might get you the low end you're looking for.

Please do tell about that "marcus" person. My car came from Texas, by way of Miami. It was shortly owned by nice fellow from Miami, but spent most of its life in TX.
do a pressure test fix all issues and log the car 3rd gear pull see what it does via durametric.. they you will know if its running right or not... simple... no need for dynos at this time...

It was nice meeting you yesterday. Sorry I could not make it through entire escort, some GM powered jerk in E39 was making my kids and myself dizzy with exhaust. Someone should have killed that thing and save the planet for all of us.
In any case, it was fun meeting whole much of nice people there.
