I think my car hates me...
It seems that every car I buy is plagued with the weirdest of issues. From my Evo to my M3 (the most reliable of the bunch) and now my 996 TT...
Driving home from the dealer the alternator went, fixed and sorted but I should have realized what I was in for then. Then one day my wing started acting up, shortly after that my check engine light came on a P0491 and P0492 (the main culprits).
Since October of last year to try and remedy the check engine light I have:
- Replaced the secondary air pump
- Replaced the diverter valves (EVOMS)
- Changed the ignition coils as one had cracked, and the spark plugs (odd but it almost seemed to work for a bit)
Change shops to an exclusively Porsche based one
- Had a boost line that had popped off reafixed
- Checked for a boost / vacuum leak
- Now I'm being told it's my check valve, which they don't have in stock and is a pain in the *** to replace (read hours of labor).
I'm basically rebuilding the secondary air system one part at a time!
To add further insult to injury, my wing hydraulics needed to be replaced / repaired. I send them out to be fixed (pricey), and when they were send back I even had the joy of paying tax, duty, brokerage fees etc on something that was just being fixed in America (I live in Canada).
That was okay right up until I found it drooping again. Apparently they had a bad shipment of brass fittings and now it's leaking worse than before. Which means I have to send it back (thankfully under warranty), and hope to god I don't pay for all the extra customs fees again!
Long story short, I started with a check engine light and a leaking wing and after countless repairs I have the same check engine light, a worse leaking wing and a drained bank account.
To think I bought this car because it was suppose to be pretty reliable on top of blazing fast. I am beyond dejected at this point.

@996Twins, thanks. Knew that one, and might end up doing it myself but I've been trying to get the mechanics to trouble shoot this as it's been a process.
I'm up in Barrie Ontario, work at the airport. Wish Ontario had some better driving roads. Lots of nice views but these arrow straight roads don't exactly challenge.

Sorry to hear about your troubles? Who did you send the wing hydraulics too? Is this the company in Florida?

Cabriolet Hydraulics in Florida. Apparently they received a bad shipment of brass fittings and I was one of the lucky recipients. They have a three year warranty so the repairs are covered but the shipping isn't cheap a second round. We'll see how they approach it.
The problem is never the failure, it's how you deal with it. If they cover shipping it back and it's flawless then great. But it was so bad that the oil was all over the back of my car.
