My car takes to much time to Warm up
Hello
Just noticed that my car takes more than 10 mins to warm up and reach 80 degrees, even if im driving the car.
Any idea if thats normal or not?
It will effect Engine in future?
What is causing this issue Thermostat?
best regards

it really does seem like "forever" before 180 is reached. but we can do any driving we want from immediate startup, though i at least let my "hi idle" condition slow or stop before i drive or else the car'll go 15 mph wiout pressing the throttle lol. but from a cold start and then just drive? the only admonition porsche gives is not to exceed 3k rpm unless at full ( 180 ) operating temp.
but yeah, you could have a bad thermostat i suppose. though 10 mins could well be accurate! its nuts how long it takes. mine too!
but you know all this bs lol im just practicing typing.. its a slow news day

It's normal - mine is the same way. I always just figured you had a lot more piping and water to get up to temp with the radiators being in the front and engine in the back compared to a normal front engine setup.

On a relative cool day with no idle time after engine start -- which I almost alway do -- and reasonable driving -- as would be the case because the engine is cold -- it can take 10 minutes or so before the coolant gage needle is up around the 180 deg mark.
'course, the T-stat can always decide it is time to not fully close so it allows more coolant flow which tends to keep the engine's operating temperature down. Rare but it is possible.
One thing you can do is get an OBD2 code reader/data viewer and connect it to the OBD2 port and then view in real time the coolant temperature. What you want to see is a generally steady climb in coolant temperature from ambient to whatever temperature at which your car's engine will settle in.
Let me see if I have any warmup data from my Turbo...

Found some recent data from my Turbo...
Starting at around 78F the coolant took over 6 minutes to get to 185F and some of this time was spent driving at 60mph.

I have a similar issue, but its with the oil temperature. My temp gauge is at 180 within 5 minutes, however, I dont get on boost until Ive checked the oil level, which takes 13 minutes or so in morning traffic.
Can someone chime in with a time from cold to warm enough to take an oil level check?

Have you checked the temp sensor? Probably the contacts are not ok (corrosion) or the sensor is showing wrong temps.
