I would like to jack up my car (rear)

Trying to do boost leak test, again to see if I fixed the problem after replacing plenum. I tried to find any information, no luck. I found some pictures but for non turbo's. I see two spots to slide jack under, #1 - (if someone could explain what it is pointing down - I thought maybe thats the place, or use #2 location, which one do you use? and its safe.

#2.. (and remember to put one of those rubber puck looking things between the jack and the car).

#1 is there for safety. if you get into a bad crash that piece is there so the engine falls down and doesnt come through the back and squash you.

Jack the full weigh of the back end on one aluminum spot (engine crankcase) just doesn't seems like a good idea. I know guys do it but I'm a bit squeamish for that...

That's what I'm thinking as well so much weight and I know people do it and saying don't worry about it it's fine well how people put their cars on Jack's?

Presumably you should be jacking the car up to put it on jack stands so it should not be resting there for long periods of time. Absolutely nothing wrong with it, if your car is lowered and you take it to the dealer, even they will use the crankcase. I was nervous about it for a long time but my track only TT is constantly going up and down for suspension setup changes and it goes up by the crankcase. Has to be 100+ times by now. These cars are solid!

The jacking spots are the same regardless of model. Follow your manual.

Jack up points

You can try this spot if your jack can go low enough...

I have tried the crankcase jacking locations many times in my , 996TT, old '79 SC and my old VWs and no problems...

Also, jack stand location options...

Good luck...

Ck986 is infamous around these parts
There is a spot right in front of 1 on a main cross member. Google it and you'll find that that is the best place to jack the rear. There has been lots of discussion on this on many forums. The spot on the motor will work too, but I think it will eventually screw your motor mounts. I used this spot to jack the motor to replace the mounts.

The harder question is where do you jack the front to get stands in place?

Contsaga, beat me to it.

To place stands in front you jack from the rear jack point just in front of the rear wheel high enough to place the front jackstand. Then repeat on other side
