First, I am sorry if this question is located somewhere. I am new to this forum and searched a few forums but didn't find it.

I recently acquired a 04 Speed Yellow GT2 and I am starting to look for rims. The person I bought the car from has had many porsche's etc and he advised me that the 996 Turbo rim do not fit properly under a GT2. They are different Offsets.

Does anyone know the proper Offset dimensions?

996 turbo rims are narrower, and wont let you properly run a 315 in the rear.
gt2 offsets are 40 front, 45 rear.
fronts are 8.5, rears are 12".

Turbo wheels are heavy. But the gt2 wheels are heavier.

except for the hollow spokes, which are light(er).

BBS makes nice rims that are affordable. HRE are expensive. Does anyone of some nice rim companies that decently light and not $1500 or more a rim?

 

i used forgestar wheels in gt2 fitment oz makes a nice wheel as well

+1 to forgestar... 1600 a set and they're strong and not too heavy.

For a little over 3k you can get a full set of CCW's or Formula 43's. Both of those brand are lighter and stronger than most HREs. Thats coming from someone who owns HREs... haha

 

you can get a lot of wheels for that $. you can get a nice light weight set of Fikse's, vossens, BBS CH-Rs (SUPER cheap), OZ's,
no offense to the guys with forgestar wheels, but i wouldnt put a forgestar on a gt2.
or you could do what ive always done since i got my first car... go on forums, and buy a (perfect) set of $6-10k wheels for nickels on the dollar. (i currently have 4 sets of wheels for my 997 because there are so many deals that are too good to pass up on these forums.)
Check out the for sale section, there are always big money guys selling their $7k HRE's for 2.5-3k WITH tires..

I got super lucky last year and got a flawless set of Champion MS61's ($13,000 !!! magnesium wheels) for $750. Theres a guy selling HRE 542R's (one of THE nicest wheels for 996 turbos) for $1k WITH tires...

There was a guy selling 18" FIKSE FM5's for 2.5k a few weeks ago. Theyre really nice wheels, and probably one the strongest (if not THE strongest) 3 piece wheels out there.

btw your GT2 wheels are worth some coin.. you can probably dump them for $1500 on here, or a couple grand on ebay.
