New Transmission Mount
New Transmission Mount
I tested serveral transmission mounts.
Fixed Mount from GT3RS....to much noises and vibrations for a street car
a transmission mount with 85 shore ...noises accetable but to much vibrations
the above transmission mount is the best of both worlds....no noises and you feel only a little more vibrations in the car.
Transmission mount (exchange) with harder 85Shore bushing.
- Reduces the movement of the transmission.
- Improved the handling characteristics during acceleration and curves

Where did you get the mount?
What's the 'window weld' mod?
not sure what you mean. I'm at 648 rwhp and zero issues.
window weld is used in windshield install. can be bought at any lows or home depot. clean the broken rubber mount with alcohol and using soapy water and your hand squeeze the window weld into the entire rubber arena. let dry 24 hrs. done

for my understanding the window weld method is not a real good quality.... thats all
we drive porsches?

Why not just use the re-designed Porsche mount? It'll hold PLENTY of high HP.

Now specified and used on everything from the 2001 Turbo to 2013 GT3, C4, up to a 2013 GT2, both Tip and manual. It's a much improved rubber bushing with literally 2x the rubber as the original mounts had. It's only $170.28 from Sonnen and provides all the support needed with no NVH issues. Why not do it right?
I did a complete write up on replacement a year ago, a very easy DIY.

As mentioned, we drive Porsches, so using "window weld" just seems out of place when the proper part is relatively inexpensive IMO. How long will "window weld" last in the high heat environment of the engine/tranny area? It takes even longer to do because you have to remove/replace the mount, mask off and squeeze the glop in, then wait to cure, and if you didn't clean completely it's not gonna stay put and you're gonna have to do it again. My .02c

Window Weld mod has been around for many years, used on many applications i dont see it failing cause your adding to the original mount by filling it with epoxy(window weld)
using the newer mount is also good, thanks for the Post Winni

Exactly, it's just an additional reinforcement to the existing mount with a suitable material. I do question the mechanical retention of the added material over time as I imagine the bond would break down between the oem and the weld material and it would otherwise separate (I think when it's installed it would trap te material in though, wouldn't it? Can't remember if it sealed the urethane in or not when it was installed in the car at the moment). I actually want to add it to my mount, but don't want to have my car down for a few days while it cures. Changed it out last summer and had a HUGE improvement over my broken down mount. Would like to see how the window weld increases the control over the updated OEM

it is right, the difference to the new 997 transmount is noticable it last longer ..but the handling of the car is near the same as oem (not improved)
for my understanding the transmission shakes up and down under hard acceleration and hard cornering with the oem part..i know i have to pay with a little more vibrations in the cabin with the reinforced part
the reinforced part are ca.200 Euro plus tax....
